Zechariah 14 Zechariah 14
The coming King and the day of the Lord
The Destroyers of Jerusalem Destroyed 1 DBY Behold, the day cometh for Jehovah, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. BSB BSB: Behold, a day of the LORD is coming when your plunder will be divided in your presence.
DBY And I will assemble all the nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity; and the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city. BSB BSB: For I will gather all the nations for battle against Jerusalem, and the city will be captured, the houses looted, and the women ravished. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the city.
DBY And Jehovah will go forth and fight with those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. BSB BSB: Then the LORD will go out to fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle.
DBY And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem toward the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, — a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. BSB BSB: On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half the mountain moving to the north and half to the south.
DBY And ye shall flee by the valley of my mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: ye shall even flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. And Jehovah my God shall come, and all the holy ones with thee. BSB BSB: You will flee by My mountain valley, for it will extend to Azal. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with Him.
DBY And it shall come to pass in that day, that there shall not be light; the shining shall be obscured. BSB BSB: On that day there will be no light, no cold or frost.
DBY And it shall be one day which is known to Jehovah, not day, and not night; and it shall come to pass, at eventide it shall be light. BSB BSB: It will be a unique day known only to the LORD, without day or night; but when evening comes, there will be light.
DBY And it shall come to pass in that day that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. BSB BSB: And on that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it toward the Eastern Sea and the other half toward the Western Sea, in summer and winter alike.
DBY And Jehovah shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Jehovah, and his name one. BSB BSB: On that day the LORD will become King over all the earth—the LORD alone, and His name alone.
DBY All the land from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem shall be turned as the Arabah; and Jerusalem shall be lifted up, and shall dwell in her own place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner-gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's winepresses. BSB BSB: All the land from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem will be turned into a plain, but Jerusalem will be raised up and will remain in her place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses.
DBY And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; and Jerusalem shall dwell safely. BSB BSB: People will live there, and never again will there be an utter destruction. So Jerusalem will dwell securely.
DBY And this shall be the plague wherewith Jehovah will smite all the peoples that have warred against Jerusalem: their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. BSB BSB: And this will be the plague with which the LORD strikes all the peoples who have warred against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
DBY And it shall come to pass in that day that a great panic from Jehovah shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. BSB BSB: On that day a great panic from the LORD will come upon them, so that each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of one will rise against the other.
DBY And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the nations round about shall be gathered together — gold, and silver, and garments, in great abundance. BSB BSB: Judah will also fight at Jerusalem, and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected—gold, silver, and apparel in great abundance.
DBY And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in those camps, as this plague. BSB BSB: And a similar plague will strike the horses and mules, camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.
All Nations Will Worship the King (Leviticus 23:33–44; Nehemiah 8:13–18)
DBY And it shall come to pass, that all that are left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts, and to celebrate the feast of tabernacles. BSB BSB: Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
DBY And it shall be, that whoso goeth not up of the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts, upon them shall be no rain. BSB BSB: And should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, then the rain will not fall on them.
DBY And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, neither shall it be upon them; there shall be the plague, wherewith Jehovah will smite the nations that go not up to celebrate the feast of tabernacles. BSB BSB: And if the people of Egypt will not go up and enter in, then the rain will not fall on them; this will be the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
DBY This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations that go not up to celebrate the feast of tabernacles. BSB BSB: This will be the punishment of Egypt and of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
DBY In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO JEHOVAH; and the pots in Jehovah's house shall be like the bowls before the altar. BSB BSB: On that day, HOLY TO THE LORD will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the house of the LORD will be like the sprinkling bowls before the altar.
DBY And every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto Jehovah of hosts; and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein. And in that day there shall be no more a Canaanite in the house of Jehovah of hosts. BSB BSB: Indeed, every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD of Hosts, and all who sacrifice will come and take some pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the LORD of Hosts.
