The Vision of the Measuring Line (Ezekiel 40:1–4)
DBY And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand. BSB BSB: Then I lifted up my eyes and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.
DBY And I said, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof. BSB BSB: “Where are you going?” I asked. “To measure Jerusalem,” he replied, “and to determine its width and length.”
DBY And behold, the angel that talked with me went forth; and another angel went forth to meet him, BSB BSB: Then the angel who was speaking with me went forth, and another angel came forward to meet him
DBY and said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein; BSB BSB: and said to him, “Run and tell that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the multitude of men and livestock within it.
DBY and I, saith Jehovah, I will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. BSB BSB: For I will be a wall of fire around it, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory within it.’”
The Redemption of Zion (Hosea 3:1–5)
DBY Ho, ho! flee from the land of the north, saith Jehovah; for I have scattered you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, saith Jehovah. BSB BSB: “Get up! Get up! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven,” declares the LORD.
DBY Ho! escape, Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. BSB BSB: “Get up, O Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the Daughter of Babylon!”
DBY For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: After the glory, hath he sent me unto the nations that made you a spoil; for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. BSB BSB: For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “After His Glory has sent Me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye—
DBY For behold, I will shake my hand upon them, and they shall become a spoil to those that served them: and ye shall know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me. BSB BSB: I will surely wave My hand over them, so that they will become plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me.”
DBY Sing aloud and rejoice, daughter of Zion; for behold, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith Jehovah. BSB BSB: “Shout for joy and be glad, O Daughter of Zion, for I am coming to dwell among you,” declares the LORD.
DBY And many nations shall join themselves to Jehovah in that day, and shall be unto me for a people; and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me unto thee. BSB BSB: “On that day many nations will join themselves to the LORD, and they will become My people. I will dwell among you, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you.
DBY And Jehovah shall inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and shall yet choose Jerusalem. BSB BSB: And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem.
DBY Let all flesh be silent before Jehovah; for he is risen up out of his holy habitation. BSB BSB: Be silent before the LORD, all people, for He has roused Himself from His holy dwelling.”
