Paul’s Hardships and God’s Grace 1 DRA And we helping do exhort you, that you receive not the grace of God in vain. BSB BSB: As God’s fellow workers, then, we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.
DRA For he saith: In an accepted time have I heard thee; and in the day of salvation have I helped thee. Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. BSB BSB: For He says: “In the time of favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the time of favor; now is the day of salvation!
DRA Giving no offence to any man, that our ministry be not blamed: BSB BSB: We put no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no one can discredit our ministry.
DRA But in all things let us exhibit ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in tribulation, in necessities, in distresses, BSB BSB: Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships, and calamities;
DRA In stripes, in prisons, in seditions, in labours, in watchings, in fastings, BSB BSB: in beatings, imprisonments, and riots; in labor, sleepless nights, and hunger;
DRA In chastity, in knowledge, in longsuffering, in sweetness, in the Holy Ghost, in charity unfeigned, BSB BSB: in purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;
DRA In the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armour of justice on the right hand and on the left; BSB BSB: in truthful speech and in the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;
DRA By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet known; BSB BSB: through glory and dishonor, slander and praise; viewed as imposters, yet genuine;
DRA As dying, and behold we live; as chastised, and not killed; BSB BSB: unknown, yet well-known; dying, and yet we live on; punished, yet not killed;
DRA As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as needy, yet enriching many; as having nothing, and possessing all things. BSB BSB: sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
DRA Our mouth is open to you, O ye Corinthians, our heart is enlarged. BSB BSB: We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians. Our hearts are open wide.
DRA You are not straitened in us, but in your own bowels you are straitened. BSB BSB: It is not our affection, but yours, that is restrained.
DRA But having the same recompense, (I speak as to my children,) be you also enlarged. BSB BSB: As a fair exchange—I speak as to my children—open wide your hearts also.
Do Not Be Unequally Yoked 14 DRA Bear not the yoke with unbelievers. For what participation hath justice with injustice? Or what fellowship hath light with darkness? BSB BSB: Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?
DRA And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever? BSB BSB: What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
DRA And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God saith: I will dwell in them, and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. BSB BSB: What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”
DRA Wherefore, Go out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: BSB BSB: “Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”
DRA And I will receive you; and I will be a Father to you; and you shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. BSB BSB: And: “I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
