The Descendants of Esau (1 Chronicles 1:35–37)
1 DRA And these are the generations of Esau, the same is Edom. BSB BSB: This is the account of Esau (that is, Edom).
2 DRA Esau took wives of the daughters of Chanaan: Ada the daughter of Elon the Hethite, and Oolibama the daughter of Ana, the daughter of Sebeon the Hevite: BSB BSB: Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite,
3 DRA And Basemath the daughter of Ismael, sister of Nabajoth. BSB BSB: and Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4 DRA And Ada bore Eliphaz: Basemath bore Rahuel: BSB BSB: And Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath gave birth to Reuel,
5 DRA Oolibama bore Jehus and Ihelon and Core. These are the sons of Esau, that were born to him in the land of Chanaan. BSB BSB: and Oholibamah gave birth to Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These were the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
6 DRA And Esau took his wives and his sons and daughters, and every soul of his house, and his substance, and cattle, and all that he was able to acquire in the land of Chanaan: and went into another country, and departed from his brother Jacob. BSB BSB: Later, Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the people of his household, along with his livestock, all his other animals, and all the property he had acquired in Canaan, and he moved to a land far away from his brother Jacob.
7 DRA For they were exceeding rich, and could not dwell together: neither was the land in which they sojourned able to bear them, for the multitude of their flocks. BSB BSB: For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together; the land where they stayed could not support them because of their livestock.
8 DRA And Esau dwelt in mount Seir: he is Edom. BSB BSB: So Esau (that is, Edom) settled in the area of Mount Seir.
9 DRA And these are the generations of Esau the father of Edom in mount Seir, BSB BSB: This is the account of Esau, the father of the Edomites, in the area of Mount Seir.
10 DRA And these the names of his sons: Eliphaz the son of Ada the wife of Esau: and Rahuel the son of Basemath his wife. BSB BSB: These are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz son of Esau’s wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau’s wife Basemath.
11 DRA And Eliphaz had sons: Theman, Omar, Sepho, and Gatham, and Cenez. BSB BSB: The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
12 DRA And Thamna was the concubine of Eliphaz the son of Esau: and she bore him Amalech. These are the sons of Ada the wife of Esau. BSB BSB: Additionally, Timna, a concubine of Esau’s son Eliphaz, gave birth to Amalek. These are the grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.
13 DRA And the sons of Rahuel were Nahath and Zara, Samma and Meza. These were the sons of Basemath the wife of Esau. BSB BSB: These are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They are the grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
14 DRA And these were the sons of Oolibama, the daughter of Ana, the daughter of Sebeon, the wife of Esau, whom she bore to him, Jehus, and Ihelon, and Core. 18 DRA And these the sons of Oolibama the wife of Esau: duke Jehus, duke Ihelon, duke Core. These are the dukes of Oolibama, the daughter of Ana, and wife of Esau. 22 DRA And Lotan had sons: Hori and Heman. And the sister of Lotan was Thamna. BSB BSB: The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam. Timna was Lotan’s sister.
23 DRA And these the sons of Sobal: Alvan and Manahat, and Ebal, and Sepho, and Oman. BSB BSB: These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24 DRA And these the sons of Sebeon: Aia and Ana. This is Ana that found the hot waters in the wilderness, when he fed the asses of Sebeon his father: BSB BSB: These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. (This is the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness as he was pasturing the donkeys of his father Zibeon.)
25 DRA And he had a son Dison, and a daughter Oolibama. BSB BSB: These are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
26 DRA And these were the sons of Dison: Hamdan, and Eseban, and Jethram, and Charan. BSB BSB: These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.
27 DRA These also were the sons of Eser: Balaan, and Zavan, and Acan. BSB BSB: These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
28 DRA And Disan had sons: Hus, and Aram. BSB BSB: These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
29 DRA These were dukes of the Horrites: duke Lotan, duke Sobal, duke Sebeon, duke Ana, BSB BSB: These are the chiefs of the Horites: Chiefs Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
30 DRA Duke Dison, duke Eser, duke Disan: these were dukes of the Horrites that ruled in the land of Seir. BSB BSB: Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. They are the chiefs of the Horites, according to their divisions in the land of Seir.
The Kings of Edom (1 Chronicles 1:43–54)
32 DRA Bela the son of Beor, and the name of his city Denaba. BSB BSB: Bela son of Beor reigned in Edom; the name of his city was Dinhabah.
33 DRA And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zara of Bosra reigned in his stead. BSB BSB: When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah reigned in his place.
34 DRA And when Jobab was dead, Husam of the land of the Themanites reigned in his stead. BSB BSB: When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites reigned in his place.
35 DRA And after his death, Adad the son of Badad reigned in his stead, who defeated the Madianites in the country of Moab: and the name of his city was Avith. BSB BSB: When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, reigned in his place. And the name of his city was Avith.
36 DRA And when Adad was dead, there reigned in his stead, Semla of Masreca. BSB BSB: When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah reigned in his place.
37 DRA And he being dead, Saul of the river Rohoboth, reigned in his stead. BSB BSB: When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the Euphrates reigned in his place.
38 DRA And when he also was dead, Balanan the son of Achobor succeeded to the kingdom. BSB BSB: When Shaul died, Baal-hanan son of Achbor reigned in his place.
39 DRA This man also being dead, Adar reigned in his place, and the name of his city was Phau: and his wife was called Meetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezaab. BSB BSB: When Baal-hanan son of Achbor died, Hadad reigned in his place. His city was named Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab.
40 DRA And these are the names of the dukes of Esau in their kindreds, and places, and callings: duke Thamna, duke Alva, duke Jetheth, BSB BSB: These are the names of Esau’s chiefs, according to their families and regions, by their names: Chiefs Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
41 DRA Duke Oolibama, duke Ela, duke Phinon, BSB BSB: Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42 DRA Duke Cenez, duke Theman, duke Mabsar, BSB BSB: Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
43 DRA Duke Magdiel, duke Hiram: these are the dukes of Edom dwelling in the land of their government; the same is Esau the father of the Edomites. BSB BSB: Magdiel, and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they possessed. Esau was the father of the Edomites.
