The Glory of Zion 1 DRA The land that was desolate and impassable shall be glad, and the wilderness shall rejoice, and shall flourish like the lily. BSB BSB: The wilderness and the dry land will be glad; the desert will rejoice and blossom like a rose.
2 DRA It shall bud forth and blossom, and shall rejoice with joy and praise: the glory of Libanus is given to it: the beauty of Carmel, and Saron, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the beauty of our God. BSB BSB: It will bloom profusely and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of the LORD, the splendor of our God.
3 DRA Strengthen ye the feeble hands, and confirm the weak knees. BSB BSB: Strengthen the limp hands and steady the feeble knees!
4 DRA Say to the fainthearted: Take courage, and fear not: behold your God will bring the revenge of recompense: God himself will come and will save you. BSB BSB: Say to those with anxious hearts: “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance. With divine retribution He will come to save you.”
5 DRA Then shall the eyes of the blind be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. BSB BSB: Then the eyes of the blind will be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
6 DRA Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall be free: for waters are broken out in the desert, and streams in the wilderness. BSB BSB: Then the lame will leap like a deer and the mute tongue will shout for joy. For waters will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.
7 DRA And that which was dry land, shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water. In the dens where dragons dwell before, shall rise up the verdure of the reed and the bulrush. BSB BSB: The parched ground will become a pool, the thirsty land springs of water. In the haunt where jackals once lay, there will be grass and reeds and papyrus.
8 DRA And a path and a way shall be there, and it shall be called the holy way: the unclean shall not pass over it, and this shall be unto you a straight way, so that fools shall not err therein. BSB BSB: And there will be a highway called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not travel it—only those who walk in the Way—and fools will not stray onto it.
9 DRA No lion shall be there, nor shall any mischievous beast go up by it, nor be found there: but they shall walk there that shall be delivered. BSB BSB: No lion will be there, and no vicious beast will go up on it. Such will not be found there, but the redeemed will walk upon it.
10 DRA And the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and shall come into Sion with praise, and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. BSB BSB: So the redeemed of the LORD will return and enter Zion with singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee.
