In My Father’s House Are Many Rooms 2 DRA In my Father’s house there are many mansions. If not, I would have told you: because I go to prepare a place for you. BSB BSB: In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
3 DRA And if I shall go, and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will take you to myself; that where I am, you also may be. BSB BSB: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.
4 DRA And whither I go you know, and the way you know. BSB BSB: You know the way to the place where I am going.”
The Way, the Truth, and the Life 5 DRA Thomas saith to him: Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? BSB BSB: “Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?”
7 DRA If you had known me, you would without doubt have known my Father also: and from henceforth you shall know him, and you have seen him. BSB BSB: If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”
8 DRA Philip saith to him: Lord, shew us the Father, and it is enough for us. BSB BSB: Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
10 DRA Do you not believe, that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you, I speak not of myself. But the Father who abideth in me, he doth the works. BSB BSB: Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.
11 DRA Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? BSB BSB: Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe on account of the works themselves.
12 DRA Otherwise believe for the very works’ sake. Amen, amen I say to you, he that believeth in me, the works that I do, he also shall do; and greater than these shall he do. BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 DRA Because I go to the Father: and whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, that will I do: that the Father may be glorified in the Son. BSB BSB: And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 DRA If you shall ask me any thing in my name, that I will do. BSB BSB: If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit (John 16:5–16)
17 DRA The spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, nor knoweth him: but you shall know him; because he shall abide with you, and shall be in you. BSB BSB: the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.
18 DRA I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you. BSB BSB: I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
19 DRA Yet a little while: and the world seeth me no more. But you see me: because I live, and you shall live. BSB BSB: In a little while the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live.
20 DRA In that day you shall know, that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. BSB BSB: On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.
21 DRA He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them; he it is that loveth me. And he that loveth me, shall be loved of my Father: and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. BSB BSB: Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.”
22 DRA Judas saith to him, not the Iscariot: Lord, how is it, that thou wilt manifest thyself to us, and not to the world? BSB BSB: Judas (not Iscariot) asked Him, “Lord, why are You going to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?”
24 DRA He that loveth me not, keepeth not my words. And the word which you have heard, is not mine; but the Father’s who sent me. BSB BSB: Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words. The word that you hear is not My own, but it is from the Father who sent Me.
25 DRA These things have I spoken to you, abiding with you. BSB BSB: All this I have spoken to you while I am still with you.
Peace I Leave with You 29 DRA And now I have told you before it comes to pass: that when it shall come to pass, you may believe. BSB BSB: And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe.
30 DRA I will not now speak many things with you. For the prince of this world cometh, and in me he hath not any thing. BSB BSB: I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming, and he has no claim on Me.
31 DRA But that the world may know, that I love the Father: and as the Father hath given me commandment, so do I: Arise, let us go hence. BSB BSB: But I do exactly what the Father has commanded Me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Get up! Let us go on from here.
