1. The Genealogy of Jesus

   (Ruth 4:18–22; Luke 3:23–38)

2. 1DRAThe book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:BSBBSB: This is the record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
3. 2DRAAbraham begot Isaac. And Isaac begot Jacob. And Jacob begot Judas and his brethren.BSBBSB: Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.
4. 3DRAAnd Judas begot Phares and Zara of Thamar. And Phares begot Esron. And Esron begot Aram.BSBBSB: Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram.
5. 4DRAAnd Aram begot Aminadab. And Aminadab begot Naasson. And Naasson begot Salmon.BSBBSB: Ram was the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon.

8. 7DRAAnd Solomon begot Roboam. And Roboam begot Abia. And Abia begot Asa.BSBBSB: Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asa.
9. 8DRAAnd Asa begot Josaphat. And Josaphat begot Joram. And Joram begot Ozias.BSBBSB: Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah.
10. 9DRAAnd Ozias begot Joatham. And Joatham begot Achaz. And Achaz begot Ezechias.BSBBSB: Uzziah was the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah.
11. 10DRAAnd Ezechias begot Manasses. And Manesses begot Amon. And Amon begot Josias.BSBBSB: Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah,
12. 11DRAAnd Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon.BSBBSB: and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.
13. 12DRAAnd after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel.BSBBSB: After the exile to Babylon: Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
14. 13DRAAnd Zorobabel begot Abiud. And Abiud begot Eliacim. And Eliacim begot Azor.BSBBSB: Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor.
15. 14DRAAnd Azor begot Sadoc. And Sadoc begot Achim. And Achim begot Eliud.BSBBSB: Azor was the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud.
16. 15DRAAnd Eliud begot Eleazar. And Eleazar begot Mathan. And Mathan begot Jacob.BSBBSB: Eliud was the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,
17. 16DRAAnd Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.BSBBSB: and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
18. 17DRASo all the generations, from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David to the transmigration of Babylon, are fourteen generations: and from the transmigration of Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.BSBBSB: In all, then, there were fourteen generations from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.

19. The Birth of Jesus

    (Isaiah 7:10–16; Luke 2:1–7)

20. 18DRANow the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.BSBBSB: This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged in marriage to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
21. 19DRAWhereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately.BSBBSB: Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and was unwilling to disgrace her publicly, he resolved to divorce her quietly.
22. 20DRABut while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the Holy Ghost.BSBBSB: But after he had pondered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to embrace Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
23. 21DRAAnd she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name JESUS. For he shall save his people from their sins.BSBBSB: She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”
24. 22DRANow all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying:BSBBSB: All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
25. 23DRABehold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.BSBBSB: “Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”).
26. 24DRAAnd Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife.BSBBSB: When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and embraced Mary as his wife.
27. 25DRAAnd he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.BSBBSB: But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a Son. And he gave Him the name Jesus.
