Jerusalem’s New Settlers 1 DRA And the princes of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: but the rest of the people cast lots, to take one part in ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts in the other cities. BSB BSB: Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem, and the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to live in the holy city of Jerusalem, while the remaining nine were to dwell in their own towns.
2 DRA And the people blessed all the men that willingly offered themselves to dwell in Jerusalem. BSB BSB: And the people blessed all the men who volunteered to live in Jerusalem.
3 DRA These therefore are the chief men of the province, who dwelt in Jerusalem, and in the cities of Juda. And every one dwelt in his possession, in their cities: Israel, the priests, the Levites, the Nathinites, and the children of the servants of Solomon. BSB BSB: These are the heads of the provinces who settled in Jerusalem. (In the villages of Judah, however, each lived on his own property in their towns—the Israelites, priests, Levites, temple servants, and descendants of Solomon’s servants—
4 DRA And in Jerusalem there dwelt some of the children of Juda, and some of the children of Benjamin: of the children of Juda, Athaias the son of Aziam, the son of Zacharias, the son of Amarias, the son of Saphatias, the son of Malaleel: of the sons of Phares, BSB BSB: while some of the descendants of Judah and Benjamin settled in Jerusalem.) From the descendants of Judah: Athaiah son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, a descendant of Perez;
5 DRA Maasia the son of Baruch, the son of Cholhoza, the son of Hazia, the son of Adaia, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zacharias, the son of the Silonite: BSB BSB: and Maaseiah son of Baruch, the son of Col-hozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, a descendant of Shelah.
6 DRA All these the sons of Phares, who dwelt in Jerusalem, were four hundred sixty-eight valiant men. BSB BSB: The descendants of Perez who settled in Jerusalem totaled 468 men of valor.

12 DRA And their brethren that do the works of the temple: eight hundred twenty-two. And Adaia the son of Jeroham, the son of Phelelia, the son of Amsi, the son of Zacharias, the son of Pheshur, the son of Melchias, BSB BSB: and their associates who did the work at the temple—822 men; Adaiah son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah;
13 DRA And his brethren the chiefs of the fathers: two hundred forty-two. And Amassai the son of Azreel, the son of Ahazi, the son of Mosollamoth, the son of Emmer, BSB BSB: and his associates, the leaders of families—242 men; Amashai son of Azarel, the son of Ahzai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer;
14 DRA And their brethren who were very mighty, a hundred twenty-eight: and their ruler Zabdiel son of the mighty. BSB BSB: and his associates—128 mighty men of valor. Zabdiel son of Haggedolim was their overseer.
15 DRA And of the Levites Semeia the son of Hasub, the son of Azaricam, the son of Hasabia, the son of Boni, BSB BSB: From the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;
16 DRA And Sabathai and Jozabed, who were over all the outward business of the house of God, of the princes of the Levites, BSB BSB: Shabbethai and Jozabad, two leaders of the Levites, who supervised the work outside the house of God;
17 DRA And Mathania the son of Micha, the son of Zebedei, the son of Asaph, was the principal man to praise, and to give glory in prayer, and Becbecia the second, one of his brethren, and Abda the son of Samua, the son of Galal, the son of Idithun. BSB BSB: Mattaniah son of Mica, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, who led in thanksgiving and prayer; Bakbukiah, second among his associates; and Abda son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.
18 DRA All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred eighty-four. BSB BSB: The Levites in the holy city totaled 284.
19 DRA And the porters, Accub, Telmon, and their brethren, who kept the doors: a hundred seventy-two. BSB BSB: And the gatekeepers: Akkub, Talmon, and their associates, who kept watch at the gates—172 men.
Residents Outside Jerusalem 20 DRA And the rest of Israel, the priests and the Levites were in all the cities of Juda, every man in his possession. BSB BSB: The rest of the Israelites, with the priests and Levites, were in all the villages of Judah, each on his own inheritance.
21 DRA And the Nathinites, that dwelt in Ophel, and Siaha, and Gaspha of the Nathinites. BSB BSB: The temple servants lived on the hill of Ophel, with Ziha and Gishpa over them.
22 DRA And the overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem, was Azzi the son of Bani, the son of Hasabia, the son of Mathania, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, were the singing men in the ministry of the house of God. BSB BSB: Now the overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica. He was one of Asaph’s descendants, who were the singers in charge of the service of the house of God.
23 DRA For the king’s commandment was concerning them, and an order among the singing men day by day. BSB BSB: For there was a command from the king concerning the singers, an ordinance regulating their daily activities.
24 DRA And Phathahia the son of Mesezebel of the children of Zara the son of Juda was at the hand of the king, in all matters concerning the people, BSB BSB: Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, a descendant of Zerah son of Judah, was the king’s agent in every matter concerning the people.
25 DRA And in the houses through all their countries. Of the children of Juda so dwelt at Cariath-Arbe, and in the villages thereof: and at Dibon, and in the villages thereof: and at Cabseel, and in the villages thereof. BSB BSB: As for the villages with their fields, some of the people of Judah lived in Kiriath-arba, Dibon, Jekabzeel, and their villages;
26 DRA And at Jesue, and at Molada, and Bethphaleth, BSB BSB: in Jeshua, Moladah, and Beth-pelet;
27 DRA And at Hasersual, and at Bersabee, and in the villages thereof, BSB BSB: in Hazar-shual; in Beersheba and its villages;
28 DRA And at Siceleg, and at Mochona, and in the villages thereof, BSB BSB: in Ziklag; in Meconah and its villages;
29 DRA And at Remmon, and at Saraa, and at Jerimuth, BSB BSB: in En-rimmon, Zorah, Jarmuth,
30 DRA Zanoa, Odollam, and in their villages, at Lachis and its dependencies, and at Azeca and the villages thereof. And they dwelt from Bersabee unto the valley of Ennom. BSB BSB: Zanoah, Adullam, and their villages; in Lachish and its fields; and in Azekah and its villages. So they settled from Beersheba all the way to the Valley of Hinnom.
31 DRA And the children of Benjamin, from Geba, at Mechmas, and at Hai, and at Bethel, and in the villages thereof, BSB BSB: The descendants of Benjamin from Geba lived in Michmash, Aija, and Bethel with its villages;
32 DRA At Anathoth, Nob, Anania, BSB BSB: in Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,
33 DRA Asor, Rama, Gethaim, BSB BSB: Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim,
34 DRA Hadid, Seboim, and Neballat, Led, BSB BSB: Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat,
35 DRA And Ono the valley of craftsmen. BSB BSB: Lod, and Ono; and in the Valley of the Craftsmen.
36 DRA And of the Levites were portions of Juda and Benjamin. BSB BSB: And some divisions of the Levites of Judah settled in Benjamin.
