The Order of the Camps 1 DRA And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron:
2 DRA All the children of Israel shall camp by their troops, ensigns, and standards, and the houses of their kindreds, round about the tabernacle of the covenant. BSB BSB: “The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance from it, each man under his standard, with the banners of his family.
3 DRA On the east Juda shall pitch his tents by the bands of his army: and the prince of his sons shall be Nahasson the son of Aminadab. BSB BSB: On the east side, toward the sunrise, the divisions of Judah are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Judahites is Nahshon son of Amminadab,
4 DRA And the whole sum of the fighting men of his stock, were seventy-four thousand six hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 74,600.
5 DRA Next unto him they of the tribe of Issachar encamped, whose prince was Nathanael, the son of Suar. BSB BSB: The tribe of Issachar will camp next to it. The leader of the Issacharites is Nethanel son of Zuar,
6 DRA And the whole number of his fighting men were fifty-four thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 54,400.
7 DRA In the tribe of Zabulon the prince was Eliab the son of Helon. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Zebulun. The leader of the Zebulunites is Eliab son of Helon,
8 DRA And all the army of fighting men of his stock, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 57,400.
9 DRA All that were numbered in the camp of Juda, were a hundred and eighty-six thousand four hundred: and they by their troops shall march first. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Judah is 186,400; they shall set out first.
10 DRA In the camp of the sons of Ruben, on the south side, the prince shall be Elisur the son of Sedeur: BSB BSB: On the south side, the divisions of Reuben are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Reubenites is Elizur son of Shedeur,
11 DRA And the whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were forty-six thousand five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 46,500.
12 DRA Beside him camped they of the tribe of Simeon: whose prince was Salamiel the son of Surisaddai. BSB BSB: The tribe of Simeon will camp next to it. The leader of the Simeonites is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai,
13 DRA And the whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 59,300.
14 DRA In the tribe of Gad the prince was Eliasaph the son of Duel. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Gad. The leader of the Gadites is Eliasaph son of Deuel,
15 DRA And the whole army of his fighting men that were numbered, were forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 45,650.
16 DRA All that were reckoned up in the camp of Ruben, were a hundred and fifty-one thousand four hundred and fifty, by their troops: they shall march in the second place. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Reuben is 151,450; they shall set out second.
17 DRA And the tabernacle of the testimony shall be carried by the officers of the Levites and their troops. As it shall be set up, so shall it be taken down. Every one shall march according to their places, and ranks. BSB BSB: In the middle of the camps, the Tent of Meeting is to travel with the camp of the Levites. They are to set out in the order they encamped, each in his own place under his standard.
18 DRA On the west side shall be the camp of the sons of Ephraim, whose prince was Elisama, the son of Ammiud. BSB BSB: On the west side, the divisions of Ephraim are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Ephraimites is Elishama son of Ammihud,
19 DRA The whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were forty thousand five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 40,500.
20 DRA And with them the tribe of the sons of Manasses, whose prince was Gamaliel the son of Phadassur. BSB BSB: The tribe of Manasseh will be next to it. The leader of the Manassites is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur,
21 DRA And the whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were thirty-two thousand two hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 32,200.
22 DRA In the tribe of the sons of Benjamin the prince was Abidan the son of Gedeon. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Benjamin. The leader of the Benjamites is Abidan son of Gideoni,
23 DRA And the whole army of his fighting men, that were reckoned up, were thirty-five thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 35,400.
24 DRA All that were numbered in the camp of Ephraim, were a hundred and eight thousand one hundred by their troops: they shall march in the third place. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Ephraim is 108,100; they shall set out third.
25 DRA On the north side camped the sons of Dan: whose prince was Ahiezar the son of Ammisaddai. BSB BSB: On the north side, the divisions of Dan are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Danites is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai,
26 DRA The whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 62,700.
27 DRA Beside him they of the tribe of Aser pitched their tents: whose prince was Phegiel the son of Ochran. BSB BSB: The tribe of Asher will camp next to it. The leader of the Asherites is Pagiel son of Ocran,
28 DRA The whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were forty-one thousand five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 41,500.
29 DRA Of the tribe of the sons of Nephtali the prince was Ahira the son of Enan. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Naphtali. The leader of the Naphtalites is Ahira son of Enan,
30 DRA The whole army of his fighting men, were fifty-three thousand four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 53,400.
31 DRA All that were numbered in the camp of Dan, were a hundred and fifty-seven thousand six hundred: and they shall march last. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the camp of Dan is 157,600; they shall set out last, under their standards.”
32 DRA This is the number of the children of Israel, of their army divided according to the houses of their kindreds and their troops, six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty. BSB BSB: These are the Israelites, numbered according to their families. The total of those counted in the camps, by their divisions, was 603,550.
33 DRA And the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel: for so the Lord had commanded Moses. BSB BSB: But the Levites were not counted among the other Israelites, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
34 DRA And the children of Israel did according to all things that the Lord had commanded. They camped by their troops, and marched by the families and houses of their fathers. BSB BSB: So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses; they camped under their standards in this way and set out in the same way, each man with his clan and his family.
