Psalm 63 63 Psalms Book 2 Douay-Rheims Bible Thirsting for God (2 Samuel 15:30–37)
DRA A psalm of David when he was in the desert of Edom. O God, my God, to thee do I watch at break of day. For thee my soul hath thirsted; for thee my flesh, O how many ways! BSB BSB: A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God. Earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You. My body yearns for You in a dry and weary land without water.
DRA In a desert land, and where there is no way, and no water: so in the sanctuary have I come before thee, to see thy power and thy glory. BSB BSB: So I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and glory.
DRA For thy mercy is better than lives: thee my lips shall praise. BSB BSB: Because Your loving devotion is better than life, my lips will glorify You.
DRA Thus will I bless thee all my life long: and in thy name I will lift up my hands. BSB BSB: So I will bless You as long as I live; in Your name I will lift my hands.
DRA Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness: and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips. BSB BSB: My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods; with joyful lips my mouth will praise You.
DRA If I have remembered thee upon my bed, I will meditate on thee in the morning: BSB BSB: When I remember You on my bed, I think of You through the watches of the night.
DRA Because thou hast been my helper. And I will rejoice under the covert of thy wings: BSB BSB: For You are my help; I will sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings.
DRA My soul hath stuck close to thee: thy right hand hath received me. BSB BSB: My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.
DRA But they have sought my soul in vain, they shall go into the lower parts of the earth: BSB BSB: But those who seek my life to destroy it will go into the depths of the earth.
DRA They shall be delivered into the hands of the sword, they shall be the portions of foxes. BSB BSB: They will fall to the power of the sword; they will become a portion for foxes.
DRA But the king shall rejoice in God, all they shall be praised that swear by him: because the mouth is stopped of them that speak wicked things. BSB BSB: But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by Him will exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut.
