Walking by the Spirit (Ezekiel 36:16–38; Galatians 5:16–26)
DRA There is now therefore no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh. BSB BSB: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
DRA For the law of the spirit of life, in Christ Jesus, hath delivered me from the law of sin and of death. BSB BSB: For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.
DRA For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh; God sending his own Son, in the likeness of sinful flesh and of sin, hath condemned sin in the flesh; BSB BSB: For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh,
DRA That the justification of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the spirit. BSB BSB: so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
DRA For they that are according to the flesh, mind the things that are of the flesh; but they that are according to the spirit, mind the things that are of the spirit. BSB BSB: Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
DRA For the wisdom of the flesh is death; but the wisdom of the spirit is life and peace. BSB BSB: The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace,
DRA Because the wisdom of the flesh is an enemy to God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither can it be. BSB BSB: because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
DRA And they who are in the flesh, cannot please God. BSB BSB: Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.
DRA And if Christ be in you, the body indeed is dead, because of sin; but the spirit liveth, because of justification. BSB BSB: But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.
DRA And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead, dwell in you; he that raised up Jesus Christ from the dead, shall quicken also your mortal bodies, because of his Spirit that dwelleth in you. BSB BSB: And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.
Heirs with Christ 12 DRA Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. BSB BSB: Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.
DRA For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die: but if by the Spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live. BSB BSB: For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
DRA For whosoever are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. BSB BSB: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
DRA And if sons, heirs also; heirs indeed of God, and joint heirs with Christ: yet so, if we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him. BSB BSB: And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.
Future Glory (2 Corinthians 5:1–10)
DRA Because the creature also itself shall be delivered from the servitude of corruption, into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. BSB BSB: that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
DRA For we know that every creature groaneth and travaileth in pain, even till now. BSB BSB: We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time.
DRA And not only it, but ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption of the sons of God, the redemption of our body. BSB BSB: Not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
DRA For we are saved by hope. But hope that is seen, is not hope. For what a man seeth, why doth he hope for? BSB BSB: For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see?
DRA But if we hope for that which we see not, we wait for it with patience. BSB BSB: But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.
DRA Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity. For we know not what we should pray for as we ought; but the Spirit himself asketh for us with unspeakable groanings. BSB BSB: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.
DRA And he that searcheth the hearts, knoweth what the Spirit desireth; because he asketh for the saints according to God. BSB BSB: And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
God Works in All Things (Ephesians 1:3–14)
DRA And we know that to them that love God, all things work together unto good, to such as, according to his purpose, are called to be saints. BSB BSB: And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
DRA For whom he foreknew, he also predestinated to be made conformable to the image of his Son; that he might be the firstborn amongst many brethren. BSB BSB: For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.
DRA And whom he predestinated, them he also called. And whom he called, them he also justified. And whom he justified, them he also glorified. BSB BSB: And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.
DRA Who shall accuse against the elect of God? God that justifieth. BSB BSB: Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
DRA Who is he that shall condemn? Christ Jesus that died, yea that is risen also again; who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. BSB BSB: Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us.
More than Conquerors (Psalm 44:1–26)
DRA Who then shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation? or distress? or famine? or nakedness? or danger? or persecution? or the sword? BSB BSB: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
DRA (As it is written: For thy sake we are put to death all the day long. We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.) BSB BSB: As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
DRA But in all these things we overcome, because of him that hath loved us. BSB BSB: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
DRA For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor might, BSB BSB: For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 DRA Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. BSB BSB: neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
