Taani Yaak'oobi S'oossaa ayiliinne Godaa Yesuusi Kiristtoosa ayilii, biittaa ubbaan laaletteedda tammanne laa"u zeretsatoo sarotaa kiittay.James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes of the Dispersion: Greetings.

Taanaadan S'oossaa kaalliyaawanttoo, hintte ammanuu paac'ettiyaawe hinttenttoo danddayaa immanawaa eriide, dumma dumma paac'ii hinttena gakkiyaa wode, hewaa kumentsaa nashechchaadan paydite.Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds,

Hintte danddayay ayinne bali baynnaan hinttena minneeddawanttanne pac'i bayinnawantta ootsiide, bare oosuwaa polo.Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Shin hintteppe ooninne barew aad'd'eedda eratetsay d'ayooppe, kad'ennaan ubbaw keekatetsan immiyaa S'oossaa woosso. I aw immana. Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Shin I ayaaninne sid'ennaan ammanuwaan S'oossaa woosso. Ayaw gooppe, sid'iyaa uray c'arkkuu sugina k'aas's'iyaa abbaa beetaa mala. But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Ayaw gooppe, laa"u k'ofay de'iyaa uray, bare ogiyaa ubbaan bare k'ofaa k'achchennawe, he uray Godaappe ayinne demmanaw k'oppoppo. That man should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

Shin hiyyeesaa ishay S'oossay Aa d'ok'k'u ootseedda wode nashetto. The brother in humble circumstances should exult in his high position.

K'ay dure ishaykka S'oossay Aa kawushisseedda wode nashetto. Ayaw gooppe, dure bitanii maataa giddon dic'c'iyaa c'iishshaadan d'ayana. But the one who is rich should exult in his low position, because he will pass away like a flower of the field.

Ayaw gooppe, away bare seelaanna kesiide, maataa melissina, c'iishshay d'ayee; k'ay Aa malaa lo"otetsaykka d'ayee; hewaadankka k'ay dure bitanii barewaa ootsiidde d'ayana. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its flower falls and its beauty is lost. So too, the rich man will fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

Waayiyaan genc'c'iyaa uray anjjetteeddawaa; ayaw gooppe, he waayiyaa s'ooneeddawaappe guyyiyaan, S'oossay barena siik'iyaawanttoo immana geedda de'uwaa kalachchaa I akkana.Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.

Ooninne paac'etteedda wode, «Taana S'oossay paac'c'ee» gooppo. Ayaw gooppe, S'oossay iitan paac'ettanaw danddayenna; k'ay I bare huup'ew oonanne paac'c'enna. When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone.

Shin Asay huup'iyaan huup'iyaan bare huup'e iita amuwaan gooshettiyaa wodenne c'imettiyaa wode paac'ettee. But each one is tempted when by his own evil desires he is lured away and enticed.

Hewaappe guyyiyaan, amuu shahaariide, nagaraa yelee; k'ay nagaray dic'c'iide, hayk'uwaa yelee. Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Taanaadan S'oossaa kaalliyaawanttoo, c'imettoppite.Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.

Lo"o imuwaa ubbaynne kumentsaa woytaa ubbay saluwaappe yee. Saluwaa poo'uwaa med'd'eedda Aawuwaappe yee; S'oossay bare huup'ew dummatennanne woy bare kuwaa laammenna.Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.

Nuuni I med'd'eedda med'etatuwaa giddon d'ok'k'asaa akkanaadan, nuuna bare sheniyaan tumu k'aalaan yeleedda. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.

Taanaadan S'oossaa kaalliyaawanttoo, hawaa hassayite; Asay ubbay sisanaw elleello; shin haasayanawunne hank'k'ettanaw elleelloppo. My beloved brothers, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger,

Ayaw gooppe, asaa hank'k'uu S'oossay koyyiyaa s'illotetsaa ahenna.for man’s anger does not bring about the righteousness that God desires.

Hewaa diraw, tuna hanotaa ubbaanne iitatetsaa ubbaa hintteppe d'ayissiide, S'oossay hintte wozanaan tookkeedda hintte shemppuwaa ashshanaw danddayiyaa k'aalaa ashikketetsan akkite. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and every expression of evil, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save your souls.

Shin S'oossaa k'aalaa oosuwaan peeshshiteppe attin, sisa s'alalaan hintte huup'iyaa c'immoppite.Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves.

Ayaw gooppe, k'aalaa sisiide ootsenna uray de'ooppe, I bare malaa masttootiyaa s'eelliyaa uraa mala. For anyone who hears the word but does not carry it out is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror,

I barena s'eelliide bee; ellekka I ay malenttonne dogi aggee.and after observing himself goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

Shin ooninne ayiletetsaappe kessiyaa bali bayinna higgiyaa s'eelliide, aan ak'iyaawe k'ay Aa naagiyaawe, siseeddawaakka dogennawe, he uray bare ootsiyaa oosuwaan anjjettana. But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom, and continues to do so—not being a forgetful hearer, but an effective doer—he will be blessed in what he does.

Bare ins's'arssaa naagennan barena c'immiidde, barew S'oossaa goyinniyaawaa malatiyaa uray de'ooppe, Aa goynay mela.If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his heart and his religion is worthless.

S'oossaa Aawuwaa sintsan pokkuu bayinna geeshsha goynay hawaa; hewe hak'awe gooppe, aata aawuu bayinna naanatuwaanne waayettiyaa am"etuwaa maaddanawaanne sa'aa nagaraa k'itaappe bare huup'iyaa naaganawaa.Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
