Unttunttu aad'd'eeda eratetsan, de'ana de'uwaa, s'illotetsaa, suure pirddaanne suuretetsaa tamaarissiyaawantta, and for receiving instruction in wise living and in righteousness, justice, and equity.

boozatoo akeeka, wodallatoo eratetsaanne wozanaamatetsaa immiyaawantta. To impart prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young,

Aad'd'eeda eranchchatuu ha leemisatwaa sisiide, eraa gujjiino; akeekanchcha asatuukka lo"o zoriyaa akkiino.let the wise listen and gain instruction, and the discerning acquire wise counsel

Aad'd'eeda eratetsaw doometsay Med'inaa Godaw yayyiyaawaa; shin boozatuu aad'd'eeda eratetsaanne seeraa kad'iino. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Ta na'aw, ne aabu zoriyaa sisa; ne daaya tamaarissiyaawaakka dogoppa.Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother.

Hewe ne huup'iyaw bonchcho kallachchaa; ne k'ood'iyawukka habiliyaa gidanawaa. For they are a garland of grace on your head and a pendant around your neck.

Ta na'aw, neena nagaranchchatuu baletsooppe, eeno gooppa. My son, if sinners entice you, do not yield to them.

Unttunttu neena, «Nuunana dendda; asaa wod'anaw k'osettiide naagoytte; gaasuu d'ayooppenne s'illotuwaa wod'anaw k'osetti uttoytte; If they say, “Come along, let us lie in wait for blood, let us ambush the innocent without cause,

Si'oolii mittiyaawaadan, nuunikka unttuntta pas'a de'ishiina mittoytte; nuuni unttuntta c'iimmo ollaan oliyaa asatuwaadan ootsana.let us swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole like those descending into the Pit.

Nuuni al"o miishshaa ubbaa demmana; nu golliyaakka omooduwaan kuntsana; We will find all manner of precious goods; we will fill our houses with plunder.

nuunanna zuppetuwan demmeeddawaakka ittippe gishettana» yaagana.Throw in your lot with us; let us all share one purse”—

Ta na'aw, unttunttunna ogiyaa hamettoppa; ne gediyaa unttunttu loossuwaa yed'isoppa.my son, do not walk the road with them or set foot upon their path.

Ayaw gooppe, unttunttu iitabaa ootsanaw wos's'iino; asaa suutsaa gussanaw elleelliino. For their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed blood.

Kafuu s'eellishshin, Aa oyk'k'anaw dabbaa yeggiyaawe ayinne maaddenna. How futile it is to spread the net where any bird can see it!

Shin unttunttu barenttu suutsaa gussanaw barenttoo wos'imadiyaa mic'c'iino; barenttu shemppuwaa wod'anaw k'osetti uttiino. But they lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush their own lives.

Bonk'k'iyaan go"aa demmiyaa ubbatuwaa wurssetsay hewaa mala; hewe izaawu shemppuwaa akkee.Such is the fate of all who are greedy, whose unjust gain takes the lives of its possessors.

Aad'd'eeda eratetsatta ogiyaan s'eesaw; gutaran bare k'aalaa d'ok'k'u ootsaade sissaw.Wisdom calls out in the street, she lifts her voice in the square;

Aad'd'eeda eratetsatta Asay shiik'iyaa sa'aan ek'k'aade s'eesaw; katamaa geliyaa penggiyaan ek'k'aade,in the main concourse she cries aloud, at the city gates she makes her speech:

«Hinttenoo, akeekay pac'c'eeddawanttoo, hintte akeekaa pac'aa awude gakkanaw dosiitee? K'iliic'iyaawanttoo, k'iliic'iyaawan awude gakkanaw nashettiitee? Boozatoo, eratetsaa awude gakkanaw is's'iitee?“How long, O simple ones, will you love your simple ways? How long will scoffers delight in their scorn and fools hate knowledge?

Ta seeraakko simmooppe; taani ta eraa hintte bolla gussana; ta k'aalaakka hinttena tamaarissana. If you had repented at my rebuke, then surely I would have poured out my spirit on you; I would have made my words known to you.

Taani s'eeseedda wode, hintte koyennan is's'eeddita; taani kushiyaa mic'c'inakka, ooninne akeekibeenna.Because you refused my call, and no one took my outstretched hand,

Ta zoriyaa ubbaa kad'eeddita; ta seeraakka akkibeyikkita.because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my correction,

Hewaa diraw, hinttena metuu gakkiyaa wode, taani hintte bolla miic'c'ana; hinttena bashshay gakkiyaa wode, taani k'iliic'ana.in turn I will mock your calamity; I will sneer when terror strikes you,

Dagamay uushuwaadan hintte bolla yiyaa wode, metuu gotiyaadan hintte bolla yiyaa wode, tuggaynne waayii hintte bolla gakkiyaa wode, taani hinttena k'iliic'ana.when your dread comes like a storm, and your destruction like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish overwhelm you.

«He wode unttunttu taana s'eesana; shin taani koyikke; unttunttu taana minisiide koyana; shin demmikkino. Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will earnestly seek me, but will not find me.

Ayaw gooppe, unttunttu eratetsaa is's'eeddino; Med'inaa Godaw yayyiyaawaa dooribeykkino. For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD.

Ta zoriyaa akkibeyikkino; ta seera ubbaakka kad'eeddino. They accepted none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof.

Hewaa diraw, unttunttu barenttu ootseedda oosuwaa ayifiyaa maana; barenttu k'oppeedda k'ofaa ayifiyaakka kallana. So they will eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Akeekay pac'c'eeddawantta aad'd'eeda eratetsaappe haakkiyaawe wod'ee; boozatuwaa sheneko giyaawe d'ayissee. For the waywardness of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.

Shin taani odiyaawaa sisiyaawanttu ubbay woppu giide, saro de'ana; metuwaa hirggaappekka shemppana» yaagaw. But whoever listens to me will dwell in safety, secure from the fear of evil.”
