Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”
3. 2ENGLXX20And Jacob said to his house, and to all that were with him, Remove the strange gods that are with you from the midst of you, and purify yourselves, and change your clothes.BSBBSB: So Jacob told his household and all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods that are among you. Purify yourselves and change your garments.
4. 3ENGLXX20And let us rise and go up to Baethel, and let us there make an altar to God who listened to me in the day of calamity, who was with me, and preserved me throughout in the journey, by which I went.BSBBSB: Then let us arise and go to Bethel. I will build an altar there to God, who answered me in my day of distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone.”
5. 4ENGLXX20And they gave to Jacob the strange gods, which were in their hands, and the ear-rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the turpentine tree which is in Secima, and destroyed them to this day.BSBBSB: So they gave Jacob all their foreign gods and all their earrings, and Jacob buried them under the oak near Shechem.
6. 5ENGLXX20So Israel departed from Secima, and the fear of God was upon the cities round about them, and they did not pursue after the children of Israel.BSBBSB: As they set out, a terror from God fell over the surrounding cities, so that they did not pursue Jacob’s sons.

11. 10ENGLXX20And God said to him, Your name shall not be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name; and he called his name Israel.BSBBSB: And God said to him, “Though your name is Jacob, you will no longer be called Jacob. Instead, your name will be Israel.” So God named him Israel.
12. 11ENGLXX20And God said to him, I am your God; increase and multiply; for nations and gatherings of nations shall be of you, and kings shall come out of your loins.BSBBSB: And God told him, “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation—even a company of nations—shall come from you, and kings shall descend from you.
13. 12ENGLXX20And the land which I gave to Abraam and Isaac, I have given it to you; and it shall come to pass that I will give this land also to your seed after you.BSBBSB: The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac I will give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.”
14. 13ENGLXX20And God went up from him from the place where he spoke with him.BSBBSB: Then God went up from the place where He had spoken with him.
15. 14ENGLXX20And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where God spoke with him, even a pillar of stone; and offered a libation upon it, and poured oil upon it.BSBBSB: So Jacob set up a pillar in the place where God had spoken with him—a stone marker—and he poured out a drink offering on it and anointed it with oil.

19. 17ENGLXX20And it came to pass in her hard labor, that the midwife said to her, Be of good courage, for you shall also have this son.BSBBSB: During her severe labor, the midwife said to her, “Do not be afraid, for you are having another son.”
