1. Judgment on Moab, Judah, and Israel

2. 1ENGUKLXXThus says the Lord; For three sins of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away from it; because they burnt the bones of the king of Idumea to lime.BSBBSB: This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Moab, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because he burned to lime the bones of Edom’s king.
3. 2ENGUKLXXBut I will send forth a fire on Moab, and it shall devour the foundations of its cities: and Moab shall perish in weakness, with a shout, and with the sound of a trumpet.BSBBSB: So I will send fire against Moab to consume the citadels of Kerioth. Moab will die in tumult, amid war cries and the sound of the ram’s horn.
4. 3ENGUKLXXAnd I will destroy the judge out of her, and kill all her princes with him, says the Lord.BSBBSB: I will cut off the ruler of Moab and kill all the officials with him,” says the LORD.
5. 4ENGUKLXXThus says the Lord; For three sins of the children of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away from him; because they have rejected the law of the Lord, and have not kept his ordinances, and their vain idols which they made, which their fathers followed, caused them to err.BSBBSB: This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Judah, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they reject the Law of the LORD and fail to keep His statutes; they are led astray by the lies in which their fathers walked.
6. 5ENGUKLXXAnd I will send a fire on Juda, and it shall devour the foundations of Jerusalem.BSBBSB: So I will send fire upon Judah to consume the citadels of Jerusalem.”
7. 6ENGUKLXXThus says the Lord; for three sins of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away from him; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for sandals,BSBBSB: This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Israel, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they sell the righteous for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals.
8. 7ENGUKLXXwherewith to tread on the dust of the earth, and they have struck upon the heads of the poor, and have perverted the way of the lowly: and a son and his father have gone into the same maid, that they might profane the name of their God.BSBBSB: They trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the earth; they push the needy out of their way. A man and his father have relations with the same girl and so profane My holy name.
9. 8ENGUKLXXAnd binding their clothes with cords they have made them curtains near the altar, and they have drunk wine gained by extortion in the house of their God.BSBBSB: They lie down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge. And in the house of their God, they drink wine obtained through fines.
10. 9ENGUKLXXNevertheless I cut off the Amorite from before them, whose height was as the height of a cedar, and he was strong as an oak; and I dried up his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.BSBBSB: Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, though his height was like that of the cedars, and he was as strong as the oaks. Yet I destroyed his fruit above and his roots below.
11. 10ENGUKLXXAnd I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you about in the desert forty years, that you⌃ should inherit the land of the Amorites.BSBBSB: And I brought you up from the land of Egypt and led you forty years in the wilderness, that you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.
12. 11ENGUKLXXAnd I took of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for consecration. Are not these things so, you⌃ sons of Israel? says the Lord.BSBBSB: I raised up prophets from your sons and Nazirites from your young men. Is this not true, O children of Israel?” declares the LORD.
13. 12ENGUKLXXBut you⌃ gave the consecrated ones wine to drink; and you⌃ commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.BSBBSB: “But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets not to prophesy.
14. 13ENGUKLXXTherefore, behold, I roll under you, as a wagon full of straw is rolled.BSBBSB: Behold, I am about to crush you in your place as with a cart full of grain.
15. 14ENGUKLXXAnd flight shall perish from the runner, and the strong shall not hold fast his strength, and the warrior shall not save his life:BSBBSB: Escape will fail the swift, the strong will not prevail by his strength, and the mighty will not save his life.
16. 15ENGUKLXXand the archer shall not withstand, and he that is swift of foot shall in no wise escape; and the horseman shall not save his life.BSBBSB: The archer will not stand his ground, the fleet of foot will not escape, and the horseman will not save his life.
17. 16ENGUKLXXAnd the strong shall find no confidence in power: the naked shall flee away in that day, says the Lord.BSBBSB: Even the bravest of mighty men will flee naked on that day,” declares the LORD.
