4. 3ENGWEBYou are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.BSBBSB: You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
5. 4ENGWEBRemain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.BSBBSB: Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.
6. 5ENGWEBI am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.BSBBSB: I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
7. 6ENGWEBIf a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.BSBBSB: If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned.
8. 7ENGWEBIf you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.BSBBSB: If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
9. 8ENGWEB“In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.BSBBSB: This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, proving yourselves to be My disciples.

12. 10ENGWEBIf you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.BSBBSB: If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.
13. 11ENGWEBI have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.BSBBSB: I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.
14. 12ENGWEB“This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.BSBBSB: This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
15. 13ENGWEBGreater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.BSBBSB: Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
16. 14ENGWEBYou are my friends if you do whatever I command you.BSBBSB: You are My friends if you do what I command you.
17. 15ENGWEBNo longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.BSBBSB: No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you.
18. 16ENGWEBYou didn’t choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.BSBBSB: You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will remain—so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.
19. 17ENGWEB“I command these things to you, that you may love one another.BSBBSB: This is My command to you: Love one another.

20. The Hatred of the World

21. 18ENGWEBIf the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.BSBBSB: If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first.
22. 19ENGWEBIf you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.BSBBSB: If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.
23. 20ENGWEBRemember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.BSBBSB: Remember the word that I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they kept My word, they will keep yours as well.
24. 21ENGWEBBut they will do all these things to you for my name’s sake, because they don’t know him who sent me.BSBBSB: But they will treat you like this because of My name, since they do not know the One who sent Me.
25. 22ENGWEBIf I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.BSBBSB: If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin.
26. 23ENGWEBHe who hates me, hates my Father also.BSBBSB: Whoever hates Me hates My Father as well.
27. 24ENGWEBIf I hadn’t done among them the works which no one else did, they wouldn’t have had sin. But now they have seen and also hated both me and my Father.BSBBSB: If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father.
28. 25ENGWEBBut this happened so that the word may be fulfilled which was written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’BSBBSB: But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated Me without reason.’
29. 26ENGWEB“When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.BSBBSB: When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—He will testify about Me.
30. 27ENGWEBYou will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.BSBBSB: And you also must testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
