1. Witnesses against Israel

2. 1ENGNOYHear these words, which Jehovah speaketh against you, ye sons of Israel; Against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt!BSBBSB: Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt:
3. 2ENGNOYYou only have I known of all the families of the earth; Therefore will I punish you for all your iniquities.BSBBSB: “Only you have I known from all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”
4. 3ENGNOYCan two walk together, Unless they agree together?BSBBSB: Can two walk together without agreeing where to go?
5. 4ENGNOYWill the lion roar in the forest, When he seeth no prey? Will the young lion cry aloud from his den, If he have seized nothing?BSBBSB: Does a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Does a young lion growl in his den if he has caught nothing?
6. 5ENGNOYCan a bird fall into a snare upon the earth, Where none is set for him? Will a snare spring up from the ground, When it hath caught nothing?BSBBSB: Does a bird land in a snare where no bait has been set? Does a trap spring from the ground when it has nothing to catch?
7. 6ENGNOYShall a trumpet be blown in the city, And the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil upon a city, And Jehovah not have done it?BSBBSB: If a ram’s horn sounds in a city, do the people not tremble? If calamity comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?
8. 7ENGNOYSurely the Lord Jehovah doeth nothing, But he revealeth his secret To his servants the prophets.BSBBSB: Surely the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets.
9. 8ENGNOYWhen the lion roareth, who will not fear? When the Lord Jehovah speaketh, who will not prophesy?BSBBSB: The lion has roared—who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken—who will not prophesy?
10. 9ENGNOYProclaim ye, in the palaces in Ashdod, And in the palaces in the land of Egypt, And say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria; Behold the great tumults in the midst of her, And the oppressions within her!BSBBSB: Proclaim to the citadels of Ashdod and to the citadels of Egypt: “Assemble on the mountains of Samaria; see the great unrest in the city and the acts of oppression in her midst.”
11. 10ENGNOYFor they have no care to do right, saith Jehovah; They treasure up rapine and robbery in their palaces.BSBBSB: “For they know not how to do right,” declares the LORD. “They store up violence and destruction in their citadels.”
12. 11ENGNOYTherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An enemy shall encompass the land. And shall bring down thy strength from thee, And thy palaces shall be plundered.BSBBSB: Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: “An enemy will surround the land; he will pull down your strongholds and plunder your citadels.”
13. 12ENGNOYThus saith Jehovah: As the shepherd taketh out of the lion's mouth Two legs, or a portion of an ear, So shall the children of Israel be taken out, Who in Samaria sit in the corners of their sofas, And upon their damask couches.BSBBSB: This is what the LORD says: “As the shepherd snatches from the mouth of the lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so the Israelites dwelling in Samaria will be rescued having just the corner of a bed or the cushion of a couch.
14. 13ENGNOYHear ye, and testify to the house of Jacob, Saith the Lord, Jehovah, God of hosts!BSBBSB: Hear and testify against the house of Jacob, declares the Lord GOD, the God of Hosts.
15. 14ENGNOYIn the day when I punish the transgressions of Israel, Then will I punish the altars of Bethel; The horns of the altar shall be cut off, And fall to the ground.BSBBSB: On the day I punish Israel for their transgressions, I will visit destruction on the altars of Bethel; the horns of the altar will be cut off, and they will fall to the ground.
16. 15ENGNOYand I will smite the winter-house together with the summer-house, And the houses of ivory shall be destroyed, And the great houses shall be brought to the ground, saith Jehovah.BSBBSB: I will tear down the winter house along with the summer house; the houses of ivory will also perish, and the great houses will come to an end,” declares the LORD.
