Paul’s Greeting to the Galatians 1 ENGNOY Paul, an apostle, not from men, nor through man, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead,— BSB BSB: Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead—
2 ENGNOY and all the brethren that are with me, to the churches of Galatia: BSB BSB: and all the brothers with me, To the churches of Galatia:
3 ENGNOY Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, BSB BSB: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
4 ENGNOY who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from the present evil world, according to the will of God our Father; BSB BSB: who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
5 ENGNOY to whom be the glory for ever and ever! Amen. BSB BSB: to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
No Other Gospel 7 ENGNOY which is not another; only there are certain persons who are troubling you, and seeking to change entirely the gospel of Christ. BSB BSB: which is not even a gospel. Evidently some people are troubling you and trying to distort the gospel of Christ.
9 ENGNOY As we have said before, so I now say again, If any one preach a gospel to you contrary to that which ye received, let him be accursed! BSB BSB: As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be under a curse!
Paul Preaches the Gospel 10 ENGNOY For do I now seek the favor of men, or of God? Or am I endeavoring to please men? If I were still pleasing men, I should not be the servant of Christ. BSB BSB: Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
11 ENGNOY But I assure you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not after man; BSB BSB: For I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached was not devised by man.
12 ENGNOY for I did not receive it from man nor was I taught it by any man, but it was revealed to me by Jesus Christ. BSB BSB: I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
14 ENGNOY and made progress in Judaism beyond many of the same age with me in my nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. BSB BSB: I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
15 ENGNOY But when it pleased him who set me apart from my very birth, and called me through his grace, BSB BSB: But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, was pleased
16 ENGNOY to reveal his Son within me, that I might publish the glad tidings of him among the gentiles, immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood, BSB BSB: to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not rush to consult with flesh and blood,
17 ENGNOY neither did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia, and returned again to Damascus. BSB BSB: nor did I go up to Jerusalem to the apostles who came before me, but I went into Arabia and later returned to Damascus.
20 ENGNOY Now as to what I am writing to you, behold, before God, I do not lie. BSB BSB: I assure you before God that what I am writing to you is no lie.
21 ENGNOY Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia; BSB BSB: Later I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
22 ENGNOY and I was unknown by face to the churches of Judaea which were in Christ; BSB BSB: I was personally unknown, however, to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.
23 ENGNOY but they were only hearing that “He who was once our persecutor is now preaching the faith which he was once destroying”; BSB BSB: They only heard the account: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”
24 ENGNOY and they glorified God in me. BSB BSB: And they glorified God because of me.
