1. Judgment on Jerusalem

2. 1ENGNOYWoe to her that is rebellious and polluted, The oppressing city!BSBBSB: Woe to the city of oppressors, rebellious and defiled!
3. 2ENGNOYShe listeneth to no voice, She receiveth not admonition; She trusteth not in Jehovah, She draweth not near to her God.BSBBSB: She heeded no voice; she accepted no correction. She does not trust in the LORD; she has not drawn near to her God.
4. 3ENGNOYHer princes within her are roaring lions; Her judges are evening wolves; They reserve nothing for the morning.BSBBSB: Her princes are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves, leaving nothing for the morning.
5. 4ENGNOYHer prophets are vainglorious, Men of treachery; Her priests pollute the sanctuary, They violate the law.BSBBSB: Her prophets are reckless, faithless men. Her priests profane the sanctuary; they do violence to the law.
6. 5ENGNOYBut Jehovah is just in the midst of her; He doeth no iniquity. Every morning bringeth he his righteousness to light; he faileth not; Yet the wicked knoweth not shame.BSBBSB: The LORD within her is righteous; He does no wrong. He applies His justice morning by morning; He does not fail at dawn, yet the unjust know no shame.

7. Purification of the Nations

8. 6ENGNOYI have cut off nations; their towers are destroyed; I have laid waste their streets so that none passeth through; Their cities are made desolate, without a man, without an inhabitant.BSBBSB: “I have cut off the nations; their corner towers are destroyed. I have made their streets deserted with no one to pass through. Their cities are laid waste, with no man, no inhabitant.
9. 7ENGNOYThen I said, “Surely thou wilt fear me; thou wilt receive admonition, That thy habitation may not be cut off, As I have commanded concerning thee.” But they were diligent to commit iniquity In all their doings.BSBBSB: I said, ‘Surely you will fear Me and accept correction.’ Then her dwelling place would not be cut off despite all for which I punished her. But they rose early to corrupt all their deeds.
10. 8ENGNOYTherefore wait for me, saith Jehovah. Until the day when I rise up to the prey. For my purpose is to gather the nations, to assemble the kingdoms, To pour upon them my indignation, Even all the heat of my wrath. For with the fire of mine anger shall all the earth be devoured.BSBBSB: Therefore wait for Me,” declares the LORD, “until the day I rise to testify. For My decision is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, to pour out upon them My indignation—all My burning anger. For all the earth will be consumed by the fire of My jealousy.

11. A Faithful Remnant

12. 9ENGNOYThen will I again bestow upon the nations pure lips, So that they shall all of them call upon the name of Jehovah, And serve him with one consent.BSBBSB: For then I will restore pure lips to the peoples, that all may call upon the name of the LORD and serve Him shoulder to shoulder.
13. 10ENGNOYFrom beyond the rivers of Ethiopia My suppliants, the sons of my dispersed ones, shall bring my offering.BSBBSB: From beyond the rivers of Cush My worshipers, My scattered people, will bring Me an offering.
14. 11ENGNOYIn that day thou shalt not be ashamed For all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me; For I will take away from the midst of thee thy proud exulters, And thou shalt no more exalt thyself upon my holy mountain.BSBBSB: On that day you will not be put to shame for any of the deeds by which you have transgressed against Me. For then I will remove from among you those who rejoice in their pride, and you will never again be haughty on My holy mountain.
15. 12ENGNOYI will leave in the midst of thee a humble and lowly people, Who trust in the name of Jehovah.BSBBSB: But I will leave within you a meek and humble people, and they will trust in the name of the LORD.
16. 13ENGNOYThe residue of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak falsehood; Neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth; Therefore shall they feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.BSBBSB: The remnant of Israel will no longer do wrong or speak lies, nor will a deceitful tongue be found in their mouths. But they will feed and lie down, with no one to make them tremble.”

17. Israel’s Restoration

18. 14ENGNOYSing, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all thy heart, O daughter of Jerusalem!BSBBSB: Sing for joy, O Daughter of Zion; shout aloud, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O Daughter of Jerusalem!
19. 15ENGNOYJehovah hath taken away thy punishments; He hath removed thine enemies. The king of Israel, Jehovah, is in the midst of thee; Thou shalt see evil no more.BSBBSB: The LORD has taken away your punishment; He has turned back your enemy. Israel’s King, the LORD, is among you; no longer will you fear any harm.
20. 16ENGNOYIn that day shall it be said to Jerusalem, Fear not! And to Zion, Let not thy hands hang down!BSBBSB: On that day they will say to Jerusalem: “Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands fall limp.
21. 17ENGNOYJehovah thy God will be in the midst of thee; The mighty one will save thee. He will rejoice over thee with gladness; He will pardon thee in his love; He will exult over thee with singing.BSBBSB: The LORD your God is among you; He is mighty to save. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing.”
22. 18ENGNOYI will gather them that mourn, far from the solemn assembly, They were far from thee; the reproach was a burden upon thee.BSBBSB: “I will gather those among you who grieve over the appointed feasts, so that you will no longer suffer reproach.
23. 19ENGNOYBehold, at that time I will destroy all that afflict thee; And I will save the halting, and gather the scattered, And I will make them a praise and a name In every land where they have been put to shame.BSBBSB: Behold, at that time, I will deal with all who afflict you. I will save the lame and gather the scattered; and I will appoint praise and fame for the disgraced throughout the earth.
24. 20ENGNOYAt that time I will bring you back, And at that time I will gather you; For I will make you a name and a praise among all the nations of the earth, When I bring back your captives before your eyes, saith Jehovah.BSBBSB: At that time I will bring you in; yes, at that time I will gather you. For I will give you fame and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your captives before your very eyes,” says the LORD.
