   (Luke 24:36–49; John 20:19–23)

2. 1ENGOEBCWWe write to you about the Word of life, which has been in existence from the beginning. We write of what we have heard, of what we have seen with our eyes, of what we watched reverently and touched with our hands.BSBBSB: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.
3. 2ENGOEBCWThat life was made visible, and we have seen it. We bear our testimony to it, and tell you of that eternal life which was with the Father and was made visible to us.BSBBSB: And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
4. 3ENGOEBCWIt is of what we have seen and heard that we now tell you, so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.BSBBSB: We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
5. 4ENGOEBCWWe are writing all this to you that our joy may be complete.BSBBSB: We write these things so that our joy may be complete.

8. 6ENGOEBCWIf we say that we have fellowship with him and yet continue to walk in the darkness, our words and our lives are a lie.BSBBSB: If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
9. 7ENGOEBCWBut if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.BSBBSB: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
10. 8ENGOEBCWIf we say, ‘we have no sin,’ then we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.BSBBSB: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
11. 9ENGOEBCWIf we confess our sins, he is just and may be trusted to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all wrongdoing.BSBBSB: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
12. 10ENGOEBCWIf we say that we haven’t sinned, we make God a liar, and his Word is not in us.BSBBSB: If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
