Carry One Another’s Burdens 1 UDB My fellow believers, if you discover that a brother or sister is doing wrong, those of you whom God's Spirit is directing should gently correct that person. Furthermore, as you correct another person, you should be very careful so that you do not sin either. BSB BSB: Brothers, if someone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him with a spirit of gentleness. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.
3 UDB I say this because people who think more highly of themselves than they should merely fool themselves. BSB BSB: If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
4 UDB Instead, each of you should constantly test and decide if you can approve what you yourself are doing and thinking. You can be proud because what you yourself have done is good, and not because what you have done is better than what anyone else has done. BSB BSB: Each one should test his own work. Then he will have reason to boast in himself alone, and not in someone else.
5 UDB I say this because you must each perform your own individual tasks. BSB BSB: For each one should carry his own load.
6 UDB If fellow believers teach you the truth about God, then you should share your possessions with them. BSB BSB: Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word must share in all good things with his instructor.
8 UDB God will eternally punish those who commit the sins that they desire to do. But those who please God's Spirit will live forever with God because of what God's Spirit does for them. BSB BSB: The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
9 UDB But we should not tire of doing what pleases God, because eventually, at the time that God has determined, we will receive a reward if we do not stop doing the good things that we have been doing. BSB BSB: Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
10 UDB So whenever we have opportunities, we should do what is good to all people. But especially we should do what is good to all our fellow believers. BSB BSB: Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to the family of faith.
Final Warnings and Blessings 11 UDB I am now writing this last part of this letter to you in my own handwriting. Notice the large letters with which I am now writing. BSB BSB: See what large letters I am using to write to you with my own hand!
12 UDB Those Jewish believers require that you must be circumcised before God would save you. But they are doing this just so that the others will not persecute them for believing that Christ died on the cross to save us. BSB BSB: Those who want to make a good impression outwardly are trying to compel you to be circumcised. They only do this to avoid persecution for the cross of Christ.
13 UDB Even those who are circumcised do not obey all of the Law. They want you to be circumcised so they can boast that you obeyed the Jewish requirement of circumcision. They want you to trust in your circumcision rather that to trust in Christ's salvation. BSB BSB: For the circumcised do not even keep the law themselves, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.
15 UDB I will be very proud about that because God does not care whether people are circumcised or not. Instead, he cares only that he changes them into new people. BSB BSB: For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything. What counts is a new creation.
16 UDB May God give peace and act kindly toward all who live like this. These believers are the true nation of Israel that belongs to God! BSB BSB: Peace and mercy to all who walk by this rule, even to the Israel of God.
17 UDB I say that people have persecuted me for declaring the truth about Jesus, and as a result I have scars on my body, unlike your new teachers. So let no one trouble me about these matters again! BSB BSB: From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.
18 UDB My fellow believers, may our Lord Jesus Christ kindly be good to all of you. Amen! BSB BSB: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
