The Resurrection (Mark 16:1–8; Luke 24:1–12; John 20:1–9)
UDB There was a strong earthquake because an angel from God came down from heaven. He went to the tomb and rolled the stone away from the entrance. Then he sat on the stone. BSB BSB: Suddenly there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, rolled away the stone, and sat on it.
UDB His body was as bright as lightning, and his clothes were as white as snow. BSB BSB: His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
UDB The guards trembled because they were very afraid, and then they fell down like dead men. BSB BSB: The guards trembled in fear of him and became like dead men.
UDB The angel said to the two women, "You should not be afraid! I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was nailed to a cross. BSB BSB: But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
UDB He is not here! God has made him alive again, just as Jesus told you he would! Come and see the place where his body lay! BSB BSB: He is not here; He has risen, just as He said! Come, see the place where He lay.
UDB "Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has risen from the dead! He will go ahead of you to the district of Galilee. You will see him there.' Pay attention to what I have told you!" BSB BSB: Then go quickly and tell His disciples, ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him.’ See, I have told you.”
UDB So the women left the tomb quickly. They were afraid, but they were also very joyful. They ran to tell the disciples what had happened. BSB BSB: So they hurried away from the tomb in fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.

UDB Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid! Go and tell all my disciples that they should go to Galilee. They will see me there." BSB BSB: “Do not be afraid,” said Jesus. “Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see Me.”

UDB So the chief priests and Jewish elders met together. They thought of a way to explain why the tomb was empty. They gave the soldiers a lot of money as a bribe. BSB BSB: And after the chief priests had met with the elders and formed a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money
UDB If the governor hears about this, we ourselves will make sure that he does not get angry and punish you. So you will not have to worry." BSB BSB: If this report reaches the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.”
UDB So the soldiers took the money and did as they were told. And this story has been told among the Jews to this very day. BSB BSB: So the guards took the money and did as they were instructed. And this account has been circulated among the Jews to this very day.
