2 UDB It is not right that other peoples should say about us, "They claim that their God is very powerful, but if that is true, why does he not help them?" BSB BSB: Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”
3 UDB Our God is in heaven, and he does whatever he wants! BSB BSB: Our God is in heaven; He does as He pleases.
5 UDB Their idols have mouths, but they cannot say anything; they have eyes, but they cannot see anything. BSB BSB: They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see;
6 UDB They have ears, but they cannot hear anything; they have noses, but they cannot smell anything. BSB BSB: they have ears, but cannot hear; they have noses, but cannot smell;
7 UDB They have hands, but they cannot feel anything; they have feet, but they cannot walk, and they cannot even make any sounds in their throats! BSB BSB: they have hands, but cannot feel; they have feet, but cannot walk; they cannot even clear their throats.
8 UDB The people who make those idols are as powerless as those idols, and those who trust in those idols can accomplish nothing, just like their idols! BSB BSB: Those who make them become like them, as do all who trust in them.
9 UDB You, my fellow Israelite people, trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and protects you like a shield. BSB BSB: O Israel, trust in the LORD! He is their help and shield.
10 UDB You priests, descendants of Aaron, trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and protects you like a shield. BSB BSB: O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD! He is their help and shield.
11 UDB All you who have an awesome respect for Yahweh, trust in him! He is the one who helps you and protects you like a shield. BSB BSB: You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their help and shield.
12 UDB Yahweh has not forgotten us; he will bless us Israelite people! He will bless the priests, BSB BSB: The LORD is mindful of us; He will bless us. He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron;
13 UDB and he will bless all those who have an awesome respect for him; he will bless important people and people who are considered to be unimportant—everyone! BSB BSB: He will bless those who fear the LORD—small and great alike.
14 UDB I wish that Yahweh may give many children to you, my fellow Israelite people, and to your descendants. BSB BSB: May the LORD give you increase, both you and your children.
15 UDB I wish that Yahweh, the one who made heaven and the earth, may bless all of you! BSB BSB: May you be blessed by the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
16 UDB The highest heavens belong to Yahweh, but he gave everything that is on the earth to us people. BSB BSB: The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth He has given to mankind.
17 UDB Dead people are not able to praise Yahweh; when they descend into the place where dead people are, they are unable to speak and cannot praise him. BSB BSB: It is not the dead who praise the LORD, nor any who descend into silence.
18 UDB But we who are alive will thank him, now and forever. Praise Yahweh! BSB BSB: But it is we who will bless the LORD, both now and forevermore. Hallelujah!
