To You I Lift Up My Soul 1 UDB Yahweh, I give myself to you. BSB BSB: Of David. To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
2 UDB My God, I trust in you. Do not allow my enemies to defeat me and shame me. Do not allow my enemies to defeat me and rejoice over me. BSB BSB: in You, my God, I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me.
3 UDB Do not allow any of those who trust in you to be ashamed. Cause those who act treacherously toward others to be disgraced. BSB BSB: Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame; but those who engage in treachery without cause will be disgraced.
4 UDB Yahweh, show me the way that I should conduct my life; teach me how to act in the manner that you want me to act. BSB BSB: Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths.
5 UDB Teach me to conduct my life by obeying your truth because you are my God, the one who saves me. All during the day I trust in you. BSB BSB: Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; all day long I wait for You.
6 UDB Yahweh, do not forget how you have acted mercifully to me and have faithfully loved me because of your covenant with me; that is the way that you have acted toward me from long ago. BSB BSB: Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and loving devotion, for they are from age to age.
7 UDB Forgive me for all the sinful things I did and the ways that I rebelled against you when I was young; I request this because you faithfully love your people and do good things for them, as you promised in your covenant. Yahweh, do not forget me! BSB BSB: Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my rebellious acts; remember me according to Your loving devotion, because of Your goodness, O LORD.
8 UDB Yahweh is good and fair, so he shows sinners how they should conduct their lives. BSB BSB: Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He shows sinners the way.
9 UDB He shows humble people what is right for them to do and teaches them what he wants them to do. BSB BSB: He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.
10 UDB He always faithfully loves us and does what he has promised for those who obey his covenant and who do what he requires. BSB BSB: All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful to those who keep His covenant and His decrees.
11 UDB Yahweh, forgive me for all my sins, which are many, so that I may honor you. BSB BSB: For the sake of Your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, for it is great.
12 UDB To all those who have an awesome respect for you, you show them the right way to conduct their lives. BSB BSB: Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the path chosen for him.
13 UDB They will always be prosperous, and their descendants will continue to live in this land. BSB BSB: His soul will dwell in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.
14 UDB Yahweh is a friend of those who have an awesome respect for him, and he teaches them the covenant that he made with them. BSB BSB: The LORD confides in those who fear Him, and reveals His covenant to them.
15 UDB I always request Yahweh to help me, and he rescues me from danger. BSB BSB: My eyes are always on the LORD, for He will free my feet from the mesh.
16 UDB Yahweh, pay attention to me and be merciful to me because I am alone, and I am greatly distressed because I am suffering. BSB BSB: Turn to me and be gracious, for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 UDB I have many troubles that make me afraid; rescue me from them. BSB BSB: The troubles of my heart increase; free me from my distress.
18 UDB Note that I am distressed and troubled, and forgive me for all my sins. BSB BSB: Consider my affliction and trouble, and take away all my sins.
19 UDB Note that I have many enemies; you see that they hate me very much. BSB BSB: Consider my enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with vicious hatred.
20 UDB Protect me and rescue me from them; do not allow them to defeat me with the result that I would be ashamed; I have gone to you to get refuge. BSB BSB: Guard my soul and deliver me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You.
21 UDB Protect me because I do what is good and honest and because I trust in you. BSB BSB: May integrity and uprightness preserve me, because I wait for You.
22 UDB God, rescue us Israelite people from all of our troubles! BSB BSB: Redeem Israel, O God, from all its distress.
