Lawsuits among Believers 1 UEB When one of you has a dispute with another, does he dare to go to the civil court before an unbelieving judge, rather than before the saints? BSB BSB: If any of you has a grievance against another, how dare he go to law before the unrighteous instead of before the saints!
UEB Do you not know that the believers will judge the world? If then, you will judge the world, are you not able to settle matters of little importance? BSB BSB: Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
UEB Do you not know that we will judge the angels? How much more, then, can we judge matters of this life? BSB BSB: Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
UEB If then you have to make judgments that pertain to daily life, why do you lay such cases as these before those who have no standing in the church? BSB BSB: So if you need to settle everyday matters, do you appoint as judges those of no standing in the church?
UEB I say this to your shame. Is there no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between brothers? BSB BSB: I say this to your shame. Is there really no one among you wise enough to arbitrate between his brothers?
UEB But as it stands, one believer goes to court against another believer, and that case is placed before a judge who is an unbeliever! BSB BSB: Instead, one brother goes to law against another, and this in front of unbelievers!
UEB The fact that there are any disputes at all between Christians is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer the wrong? Why not rather allow yourselves to be cheated? BSB BSB: The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means that you are thoroughly defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
UEB But you have wronged and cheated others, and these are your own brothers! BSB BSB: Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, even against your own brothers!
Members of Christ 9 UEB Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not believe lies. The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, those who practice homosexuality, BSB BSB: Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts,
UEB thieves, the greedy, drunkards, slanderers, and swindlers—none of them will inherit the kingdom of God. BSB BSB: nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
UEB That is what some of you were like. But you have been cleansed, you have been sanctified, you have been made right with God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. BSB BSB: And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
UEB "Everything is lawful for me," but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is lawful for me," but I will not be mastered by any of them. BSB BSB: “Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.
UEB "Food is for the stomach, and the stomach is for food," but God will do away with both of them. The body is not intended for sexual immorality. Instead, the body is for the Lord, and the Lord will provide for the body. BSB BSB: “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will destroy them both. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
UEB God both raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. BSB BSB: By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also.
UEB Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and join them to a prostitute? May it not be! BSB BSB: Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
UEB Do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one flesh with her? As scripture says, "The two will become one flesh." BSB BSB: Or don’t you know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”
UEB But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. BSB BSB: But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with Him in spirit.
The Temple of the Holy Spirit (Romans 12:1–8; 1 Corinthians 3:16–23)
UEB Run away from sexual immorality! Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. BSB BSB: Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
UEB For you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God with your body. BSB BSB: you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.
