Jehu’s Prophecy against Baasha 1 UEB The word of Yahweh came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha, saying, BSB BSB: Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha, saying:
UEB "Although I exalted you out of the dust and made you leader over my people Israel, you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, so as to provoke me to anger with their sins. BSB BSB: “Even though I lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have caused My people Israel to sin and to provoke Me to anger by their sins.
UEB See, I will completely sweep away Baasha and his family and I will make your family like the family of Jeroboam son of Nebat. BSB BSB: So now I will consume Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat:
UEB The dogs will eat anyone belonging to Baasha who dies in the city, and the birds of the sky will eat anyone who dies in the fields." BSB BSB: Anyone belonging to Baasha who dies in the city will be eaten by dogs, and anyone who dies in the field will be eaten by the birds of the air.”
UEB As for the other matters concerning Baasha, what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel? BSB BSB: As for the rest of the acts of Baasha, along with his accomplishments and might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
UEB Baasha slept with his ancestors and was buried in Tirzah, and Elah his son became king in his place. BSB BSB: And Baasha rested with his fathers and was buried in Tirzah, and his son Elah reigned in his place.
UEB So by the prophet Jehu son of Hanani the word of Yahweh came against Baasha and his family, both because of all the evil that he did in the sight of Yahweh, so as to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, like the family of Jeroboam, and also because he had killed all of Jeroboam's family. BSB BSB: Moreover, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger with the work of his hands and becoming like the house of Jeroboam, and also because Baasha had struck down the house of Jeroboam.
Elah Reigns in Israel 8 UEB In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha began to reign over Israel in Tirzah; he reigned two years. BSB BSB: In the twenty-sixth year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah two years.
UEB His servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now Elah was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah. BSB BSB: However, while Elah was in Tirzah getting drunk in the house of Arza the steward of his household there, Elah’s servant Zimri, the commander of half his chariots, conspired against him.
UEB Zimri went in, attacked him and killed him, in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and became king in his place. BSB BSB: So in the twenty-seventh year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Zimri went in, struck Elah down, and killed him. And Zimri reigned in his place.
UEB When Zimri began to reign and was seated on his throne, he killed all the family of Baasha. He did not leave alive a single male belonging to Baasha's relatives or friends. BSB BSB: As soon as Zimri began to reign and was seated on the throne, he struck down the entire household of Baasha. He did not leave a single male, whether a kinsman or friend.
UEB So Zimri destroyed all the family of Baasha, according to the word of Yahweh which he spoke against Baasha by Jehu the prophet, BSB BSB: So Zimri destroyed the entire household of Baasha, according to the word that the LORD had spoken against Baasha through Jehu the prophet.
UEB for all the sins of Baasha and the sins of Elah his son that they committed, and by which they had led Israel to sin, so that they provoked Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger with their idols. BSB BSB: This happened because of all the sins Baasha and his son Elah had committed and had caused Israel to commit, provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger with their worthless idols.
UEB As for the other matters concerning Elah, all that he did, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel? BSB BSB: As for the rest of the acts of Elah, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

UEB The army camped there heard it said, "Zimri has plotted and has killed the king." So that day in the camp, all Israel declared Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel. BSB BSB: and the people in the camp heard that Zimri had conspired against the king and struck him down. So there in the camp that very day, all Israel proclaimed Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel.
UEB Omri went up from Gibbethon and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah. BSB BSB: Then Omri and all the Israelites marched up from Gibbethon and besieged Tirzah.
UEB So when Zimri saw that the city had been taken, he went into the fortress attached to the king's palace and set fire to the building over him; in this way he died in the flames. BSB BSB: When Zimri saw that the city was captured, he entered the citadel of the royal palace and burned it down upon himself. So he died
UEB This was for the sins that he had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, by walking in the way of Jeroboam and in the sin that he had committed, so as to lead Israel to sin. BSB BSB: because of the sins he had committed, doing evil in the sight of the LORD and following the example of Jeroboam and the sin he had committed and had caused Israel to commit.
UEB As for the other matters concerning Zimri, and the treason that he carried out, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel? BSB BSB: As for the rest of the acts of Zimri and the treason he committed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

BSB BSB: At that time the people of Israel were divided: Half of the people supported Tibni son of Ginath as king, and half supported Omri.
UEB But the people who followed Omri were stronger than the people who followed Tibni son of Ginath. So Tibni died, and Omri became king. BSB BSB: But the followers of Omri proved stronger than those of Tibni son of Ginath. So Tibni died and Omri became king.
UEB Omri began to reign over Israel in the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned twelve years. He reigned from Tirzah for six years. BSB BSB: In the thirty-first year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned twelve years, six of them in Tirzah.
UEB He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver. He built a city on the hill and called the name of the city Samaria, after the name of Shemer, the past owner of the hill. BSB BSB: He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver and built a city there, calling it Samaria after the name of Shemer, who had owned the hill.
UEB Omri did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh and acted more wickedly than all who had been before him. BSB BSB: But Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD and acted more wickedly than all who were before him.
UEB For he walked in all the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat and in his sins by which he led Israel to sin, to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to be angry with their worthless idols. BSB BSB: For he walked in all the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat and in his sins, which he caused Israel to commit, provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger with their worthless idols.
UEB As for the other matters concerning Omri which he did, and the might that he showed, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel? BSB BSB: As for the rest of the acts of Omri, along with his accomplishments and the might he exercised, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
UEB So Omri slept with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria and Ahab his son became king in his place. BSB BSB: And Omri rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria, and his son Ahab reigned in his place.

UEB It was to Ahab a trivial thing to walk in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, so he took as his wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians; he went and worshiped Baal and bowed down to him. BSB BSB: And as if it were not enough for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, he even married Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and he then proceeded to serve and worship Baal.
UEB He built an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. BSB BSB: First, Ahab set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he had built in Samaria.

BSB BSB: In Ahab’s days, Hiel the Bethelite rebuilt Jericho. At the cost of Abiram his firstborn he laid its foundation, and at the cost of Segub his youngest he set up its gates, according to the word that the LORD had spoken through Joshua son of Nun.
