Request for Prayer 1 UEB Now, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may rush and be glorified, as it also is with you. BSB BSB: Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and be held in honor, just as it was with you.
UEB Pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not all have faith. BSB BSB: And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not everyone holds to the faith.
UEB But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. BSB BSB: But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.
UEB We have confidence in the Lord about you, that you both do and will continue to do the things that we command. BSB BSB: And we have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do what we command.
UEB May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the endurance of Christ. BSB BSB: May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
A Warning against Idleness 6 UEB Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you avoid every brother who lives a lazy life and does not live according to the traditions you received from us. BSB BSB: Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who leads an undisciplined life that is not in keeping with the tradition you received from us.
UEB For you yourselves know it is proper for you to imitate us. We did not live among you as those who had no discipline. BSB BSB: For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not undisciplined among you,
UEB We did not eat anyone's food without paying for it. Instead, we worked night and day in difficult labor and hardship, so we might not be a burden to any of you. BSB BSB: nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, in labor and toil, we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you.
UEB We did this not because we have no authority. Instead, we did this in order to be an example to you, so that you may imitate us. BSB BSB: Not that we lack this right, but we wanted to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate.
UEB When we were with you, we commanded you, "The one who is unwilling to work must not eat." BSB BSB: For even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “If anyone is unwilling to work, he shall not eat.”
UEB For we hear that some walk idly among you. They do not work but are instead meddlers. BSB BSB: For we hear that some of you are leading undisciplined lives, accomplishing nothing, but being busybodies.
UEB Now such ones we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they should work with quietness and eat their own food. BSB BSB: We command and urge such people by our Lord Jesus Christ to begin working quietly to earn their own living.
UEB But you, brothers, do not become tired of doing what is right. BSB BSB: But as for you, brothers, do not grow weary in well-doing.
UEB If anyone does not obey our word in this letter, take note of him and have no association with him, so that he may be ashamed. BSB BSB: Take note of anyone who does not obey the instructions we have given in this letter. Do not associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.
UEB Do not consider him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother. BSB BSB: Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

UEB May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. May the Lord be with you all. BSB BSB: Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
UEB This is my greeting, Paul, with my own hand, which is the sign in every letter. This is how I write. BSB BSB: This greeting is in my own hand—Paul. This is my mark in every letter; it is the way I write.
UEB May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. BSB BSB: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.
