Jesus Appears by the Sea of Tiberias 1 UEB After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. This is how he showed himself: BSB BSB: Later, by the Sea of Tiberias, Jesus again revealed Himself to the disciples. He made Himself known in this way:
UEB Simon Peter was together with Thomas called Didymus, Nathaniel from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples of Jesus. BSB BSB: Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.
UEB Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We, too, will come with you." They went and got into a boat, but they caught nothing during the whole night. BSB BSB: Simon Peter told them, “I am going fishing.” “We will go with you,” they said. So they went out and got into the boat, but caught nothing that night.
UEB Now, when it was already early in the morning, Jesus stood on the beach, but the disciples did not know it was Jesus. BSB BSB: Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not recognize that it was Jesus.
UEB So Jesus said to them, "Young men, do you have anything to eat?" They answered him, "No." BSB BSB: So He called out to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” “No,” they answered.
UEB He said to them, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they threw their net and were not able to draw it in because of the large number of fish. BSB BSB: He told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to haul it in because of the great number of fish.
UEB Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord." When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tied up his outer garment (for he was undressed), and threw himself into the sea. BSB BSB: Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it) and jumped into the sea.
UEB The other disciples came in the boat (for they were not far from the land, about two hundred cubits off), and they were pulling the net full of fish. BSB BSB: The other disciples came ashore in the boat. They dragged in the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards.
UEB When they got out upon the land, they saw a charcoal fire there and fish laid on it, with bread. BSB BSB: When they landed, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish on it, and some bread.
UEB Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish that you have just caught." BSB BSB: Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
UEB Simon Peter then went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish; 153. There were so many, but the net was not torn. BSB BSB: So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many, the net was not torn.
UEB Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast." None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. BSB BSB: “Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said to them. None of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are You?” They knew it was the Lord.
UEB Jesus came, took the bread, and gave it to them, and the fish also. BSB BSB: Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and He did the same with the fish.
UEB This was the third time that Jesus showed himself to the disciples after he had risen from the dead. BSB BSB: This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after He was raised from the dead.
Jesus and Peter 15 UEB After they ate breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" Peter said to him, "Yes Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs." BSB BSB: When they had finished eating, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he answered, “You know I love You.” Jesus replied, “Feed My lambs.”
UEB He said to him again a second time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter said to him, "Yes Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Take care of my sheep." BSB BSB: Jesus asked a second time, “Simon son of John, do you love Me?” “Yes, Lord,” he answered, “You know I love You.” Jesus told him, “Shepherd My sheep.”
UEB He said to him a third time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was sad because Jesus had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" He said to him, "Lord, you know all things, you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep. BSB BSB: Jesus asked a third time, “Simon son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was deeply hurt that Jesus had asked him a third time, “Do you love Me?” “Lord, You know all things,” he replied. “You know I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.
UEB Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to clothe yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you become old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will clothe you and carry you where you will not want to go." BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 UEB Now Jesus said this in order to indicate with what kind of death Peter would glorify God. After he had said this, he said to Peter, "Follow me." BSB BSB: Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. And after He had said this, He told him, “Follow Me.”
Jesus and the Beloved Disciple 21 UEB Peter saw him and then said to Jesus, "Lord, what will this man do?" BSB BSB: When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
UEB Jesus said to him, "If I want him to stay until I come, what is that to you? Follow me." BSB BSB: Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you? You follow Me!”
UEB So this statement spread among the brothers, that that disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to Peter that the other disciple would not die, but, "If I want him to stay until I come, what is that to you?" BSB BSB: Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. However, Jesus did not say that he would not die, but only, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you?”
UEB There are also many other things that Jesus did. If each one were written down, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. BSB BSB: There are many more things that Jesus did. If all of them were written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have space for the books that would be written.
