UEB Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, BSB BSB: The LORD spoke again to Moses and Aaron, telling them,
UEB "Speak to the people of Israel, saying, 'These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth. BSB BSB: “Say to the Israelites, ‘Of all the beasts of the earth, these ones you may eat:
UEB You may eat any animal that has a split hoof and that also chews the cud. BSB BSB: You may eat any animal that has a split hoof completely divided and that chews the cud.
UEB However, some animals either chew the cud or have a split hoof, and you must not eat them, animals such as the camel, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof. So the camel is unclean to you. BSB BSB: But of those that only chew the cud or only have a divided hoof, you are not to eat the following: The camel, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you.
UEB Also the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof, it is also unclean to you. BSB BSB: The rock badger, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you.
UEB The rabbit, because it chews the cud, but does not have a split hoof, is unclean to you. BSB BSB: The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you.

UEB But all living creatures that do not have fins and scales in the ocean or rivers, including all that move in the water and all the living creatures that are in the water— they must be detested by you. BSB BSB: But the following among all the teeming life and creatures in the water are detestable to you: everything in the seas or streams that does not have fins and scales.
UEB Since they must be detested, you must not eat of their meat; also, their carcasses must be detested. BSB BSB: They shall be an abomination to you; you must not eat their meat, and you must detest their carcasses.
UEB Whatever has no fins or scales in the water must be detested by you. BSB BSB: Everything in the water that does not have fins and scales shall be detestable to you.

UEB Yet you may eat any of the flying insects that also walk on four legs if they have jointed legs for hopping on the ground. BSB BSB: However, you may eat the following kinds of flying insects that walk on all fours: those having jointed legs above their feet for hopping on the ground.
UEB You may also eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket, or grasshopper. BSB BSB: Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket, or grasshopper.
UEB But all the flying insects that have four feet must be detested by you. BSB BSB: All other flying insects that have four legs are detestable to you.
UEB You will become unclean until evening by these animals if you touch a carcass of one of them. BSB BSB: These creatures will make you unclean. Whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean until evening,
UEB Whoever picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes and remain unclean until evening. BSB BSB: and whoever picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean until evening.
UEB Every animal which has a split hoof that is not completely divided or which does not chew the cud is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them will be unclean. 29 UEB Of the animals that creep on the ground, these are the animals that will be unclean to you: the weasel, the rat, every kind of large lizard, BSB BSB: The following creatures that move along the ground are unclean for you: the mole, the mouse, any kind of great lizard,
UEB the gecko, the monitor lizard, the lizard, the skink, and the chameleon. BSB BSB: the gecko, the monitor lizard, the common lizard, the skink, and the chameleon.
UEB Of all the animals that creep, these are the animals which will be unclean to you. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening. BSB BSB: These animals are unclean for you among all the crawling creatures. Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.
UEB If any of them dies and falls on anything, that thing will be unclean, whether it is made of wood, cloth, leather, or sackcloth. Whatever it is and whatever it is used for, it must be put into water; it will be unclean until evening. Then it will be clean. BSB BSB: When one of them dies and falls on something, that article becomes unclean; any article of wood, clothing, leather, sackcloth, or any implement used for work must be rinsed with water and will remain unclean until evening; then it will be clean.

UEB Any food that could be eaten but has water on it from such a pot is unclean. Any liquid that is for drinking from such a pot is unclean. BSB BSB: Any food coming into contact with water from that pot will be unclean, and any drink in such a container will be unclean.
UEB Anything that one of their carcasses falls on becomes unclean; if it is an oven or small stove, it must be broken to pieces. They are unclean and they must remain unclean to you. BSB BSB: Anything upon which one of their carcasses falls will be unclean. If it is an oven or cooking pot, it must be smashed; it is unclean and will remain unclean for you.
UEB A spring or cistern for collecting water remains clean; but anyone who touches their carcass is unclean. BSB BSB: Nevertheless, a spring or cistern containing water will remain clean, but one who touches a carcass in it will be unclean.

UEB You must not make yourselves unclean with any living creatures that creep; you must not make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be made impure by them. BSB BSB: Do not defile yourselves by any crawling creature; do not become unclean or defiled by them.
UEB For I am Yahweh your God. You are to keep yourselves holy, therefore, and be holy, because I am holy. You must not defile yourselves with any kind of animal that moves about on the ground. BSB BSB: For I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, because I am holy. You must not defile yourselves by any creature that crawls along the ground.
