Victory over Betrayal (John 13:18–30)
1 UEB Blessed is he who is concerned for the weak; in the day of trouble, Yahweh will rescue him. BSB BSB: For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Blessed is the one who cares for the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of trouble.
2 UEB Yahweh will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; Yahweh will not turn him over to the will of his enemies. BSB BSB: The LORD will protect and preserve him; He will bless him in the land and refuse to give him over to the will of his foes.
3 UEB Yahweh will support him on the bed of suffering; you will make his bed of sickness into a bed of healing. BSB BSB: The LORD will sustain him on his bed of illness and restore him from his bed of sickness.
4 UEB I said, "Yahweh, have mercy on me! Heal me, for I have sinned against you." BSB BSB: I said, “O LORD, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against You.”
5 UEB My enemies speak evil against me, saying, 'When will he die and his name perish?' BSB BSB: My enemies say with malice: “When will he die and be forgotten?”
6 UEB If my enemy comes to see me, he says worthless things; his heart gathers up my disaster for itself; when he goes away from me, he tells others about it. BSB BSB: My visitor speaks falsehood; he gathers slander in his heart; he goes out and spreads it abroad.
7 UEB All who hate me whisper together against me; against me they hope for my hurt. BSB BSB: All who hate me whisper against me; they imagine the worst for me:
8 UEB They say, "An evil disease holds on tightly to him; now that he is lying down, he will rise up no more." BSB BSB: “A vile disease has been poured into him; he will never get up from where he lies!”
9 UEB Indeed, even my own close friend, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. BSB BSB: Even my close friend whom I trusted, the one who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
10 UEB But you, Yahweh, have mercy on me and raise me up so that I may pay them back. BSB BSB: But You, O LORD, be gracious to me and raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 UEB By this I know that you delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me. BSB BSB: By this I know that You delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 UEB As for me, you support me in my integrity and will keep me before your face forever. BSB BSB: In my integrity You uphold me and set me in Your presence forever.
13 UEB May Yahweh, the God of Israel be praised from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen. BSB BSB: Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
