A Call to Prayer 1 ULT I urge, therefore, first of all, for requests, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings to be made for all men, BSB BSB: First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone—
2 ULT for kings and all the ones being in authority, so that we may live a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. BSB BSB: for kings and all those in authority—so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity.
4 ULT who desires all men to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth. BSB BSB: who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
6 ULT the one having given himself{ as} a ransom for all, the testimony in its own times, BSB BSB: who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony that was given at just the right time.
7 ULT for which I was made a herald and an apostle— I am speaking the truth in Christ, I am not lying— a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. BSB BSB: For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.
8 ULT Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and argument; BSB BSB: Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or dissension.
Instructions to Women 9 ULT likewise women to adorn themselves in proper attire, with modesty and self- control, not in braids and gold, or pearls, or very expensive clothing, BSB BSB: Likewise, I want the women to adorn themselves with respectable apparel, with modesty, and with self-control, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
10 ULT but— what is proper for women professing godliness— through good works. BSB BSB: but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess to worship God.
12 ULT But I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in quietness. BSB BSB: I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; she is to remain quiet.
13 ULT For Adam was formed first, then Eve, BSB BSB: For Adam was formed first, and then Eve.
14 ULT and Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been deceived, came into transgression. BSB BSB: And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived and fell into transgression.
15 ULT But she will be saved through childbearing if they remain in faith and love and holiness with self- control. BSB BSB: Women, however, will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
