Greetings to the Thessalonians (1 Thessalonians 1:1–10)
1 ULT Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. BSB BSB: Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 ULT Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. BSB BSB: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 ULT We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, just as it is fitting, because your faith is increasing greatly, and the love of each one of you all for one another is increasing; BSB BSB: We are obligated to thank God for you all the time, brothers, as is fitting, because your faith is growing more and more, and your love for one another is increasing.
4 ULT so that we ourselves boast concerning you among the churches of God about your endurance and faith in all your persecutions and afflictions that you endure, BSB BSB: That is why we boast among God’s churches about your perseverance and faith in the face of all the persecution and affliction you are enduring.
Christ’s Coming 5 ULT evidence of the righteous judgment of God, for you to be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; BSB BSB: All this is clear evidence of God’s righteous judgment. And so you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
6 ULT if indeed{ it is} righteous for God to return affliction to the ones afflicting you, BSB BSB: After all, it is only right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,
7 ULT and relief to you, the ones being afflicted with us at the revealing of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his mighty angels, BSB BSB: and to grant relief to you who are oppressed and to us as well. This will take place when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels
8 ULT in flaming fire taking vengeance on the ones not having known God and on the ones not obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus, BSB BSB: in blazing fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
10 ULT when he comes on that day to be glorified by his saints and to be marveled at by all the ones having believed, for our testimony to you has been believed. BSB BSB: on the day He comes to be glorified in His saints and regarded with wonder by all who have believed, including you who have believed our testimony.
11 ULT For this we also pray always for you, so that our God may consider you worthy of the calling and he may fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith in power BSB BSB: To this end, we always pray for you, that our God will count you worthy of His calling, and that He will powerfully fulfill your every good desire and work of faith,
12 ULT so that the name of our Lord Jesus might be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. BSB BSB: so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.
