4 ULT I would set forth my case to his face, and I would fill my mouth with arguments. BSB BSB: I would plead my case before Him and fill my mouth with arguments.
5 ULT I would know the words he would answer me, and I would perceive what he would say to me. BSB BSB: I would learn how He would answer, and consider what He would say.
6 ULT Would he argue against me in the greatness of power? No, he would only set upon me. BSB BSB: Would He contend with me in His great power? No, He would certainly take note of me.
7 ULT There the upright is arguing with him, and I would escape forever the one judging me. BSB BSB: Then an upright man could reason with Him, and I would be delivered forever from my Judge.
9 ULT in his working in the north, I do not behold{ him}; he turns to the south, but I do not see{ him}. BSB BSB: When He is at work in the north, I cannot behold Him; when He turns to the south, I cannot see Him.
10 ULT Nevertheless, he knows the way{ that is} with me; he has tested me, I have come out like gold. BSB BSB: Yet He knows the way I have taken; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold.
11 ULT My foot has held onto his step; I have kept{ to} his way and I have not turned aside. BSB BSB: My feet have followed in His tracks; I have kept His way without turning aside.
12 ULT I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion. BSB BSB: I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.
13 ULT But he{ is} of one, and who will turn him back? For his soul desires, and he does. BSB BSB: But He is unchangeable, and who can oppose Him? He does what He desires.
14 ULT For he will carry out my decree, and many like these{ are} with him. BSB BSB: For He carries out His decree against me, and He has many such plans.
15 ULT Therefore, I am terrified from his face; I consider, and I am afraid of him. BSB BSB: Therefore I am terrified in His presence; when I consider this, I fear Him.
16 ULT For God has softened my heart, and the Almighty has terrified me. BSB BSB: God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me.
17 ULT For I was not cut off from the face of the darkness, and from my face gloom covers. BSB BSB: Yet I am not silenced by the darkness, by the thick darkness that covers my face.
