Elihu Proclaims God’s Majesty 1 ULT Indeed, my heart trembles at this, and it leaps from its place. BSB BSB: “At this my heart also pounds and leaps from its place.
2 ULT Hearing, hear the roar of his voice and the sound{ that} comes from his mouth! BSB BSB: Listen closely to the thunder of His voice and the rumbling that comes from His mouth.
3 ULT He lets it loose under all of the heavens, and his lightning to the edges of the earth. BSB BSB: He unleashes His lightning beneath the whole sky and sends it to the ends of the earth.
4 ULT A voice roars after it; he thunders with the voice of his majesty, and he does not restrain them when his voice is heard. BSB BSB: Then there comes a roaring sound; He thunders with His majestic voice. He does not restrain the lightning when His voice resounds.
5 ULT God thunders marvelously with his voice, doing great{ things} and we do not know. BSB BSB: God thunders wondrously with His voice; He does great things we cannot comprehend.
6 ULT For he says to the snow,‘Be{ on} the earth,’ and{ to} the shower of rain,{ to} the shower of rains,‘Strength!’ BSB BSB: For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the gentle rain, ‘Pour out a mighty downpour.’
7 ULT He seals the hand of every man for the knowing of all of men of his making. BSB BSB: He seals up the hand of every man, so that all men may know His work.
8 ULT And the beast goes into{ its} den and remains in its lairs. BSB BSB: The wild animals enter their lairs; they settle down in their dens.
9 ULT The storm comes from the chamber, and the cold from the north winds. BSB BSB: The tempest comes from its chamber, and the cold from the driving north winds.
10 ULT From the breath of God ice is made, and the breadth of the waters{ is} in narrowness. BSB BSB: By the breath of God the ice is formed and the watery expanses are frozen.
11 ULT Indeed, he loads the cloud with moisture; he scatters the cloud of his lightning. BSB BSB: He loads the clouds with moisture; He scatters His lightning through them.
12 ULT And it is turning itself around by his counsels for them doing all of what he commands them above the face of the habitation of the earth. BSB BSB: They swirl about, whirling at His direction, accomplishing all that He commands over the face of all the earth.
13 ULT If to the rod, if to his earth, if to kindness, he causes it to find it. BSB BSB: Whether for punishment or for His land, He accomplishes this in His loving devotion.
14 ULT Do hear this, Job; stand and consider the marvelous{ things} of God. BSB BSB: Listen to this, O Job; stand still and consider the wonders of God.
15 ULT Do you know of the placing of God upon them, and his cloud causes lightning to flash? BSB BSB: Do you know how God dispatches the clouds or makes the lightning flash?
16 ULT Do you know about the balancing of the cloud, the wonders of the perfect in knowledges? BSB BSB: Do you understand how the clouds float, those wonders of Him who is perfect in knowledge?
17 ULT { You} whose garments{ are} hot in the quieting of the earth from the south, BSB BSB: You whose clothes get hot when the land lies hushed under the south wind,
18 ULT will you hammer out the sky with him, strong as a cast mirror? BSB BSB: can you, like Him, spread out the skies, as strong as a mirror of bronze?
19 ULT Teach us what we shall say to him; we can not array, from the face of darkness. BSB BSB: Teach us what we should say to Him; we cannot draw up our case because of our darkness.
20 ULT Shall it be recounted to him that I would speak? If a man spoke, that he would be swallowed up? BSB BSB: Should He be told that I want to speak? Would a man ask to be swallowed up?
21 ULT And now, they do not look at the bright light that{ is} in the skies when the wind has passed through and cleansed them. BSB BSB: Now no one can gaze at the sun when it is bright in the skies after the wind has swept them clean.
22 ULT Out of the north comes gold; around God{ is} awesome majesty. BSB BSB: Out of the north He comes in golden splendor; awesome majesty surrounds Him.
23 ULT The Almighty, we do not find him!{ He is} great{ in} power, and he does not oppress justice and an abundance of righteousness. BSB BSB: The Almighty is beyond our reach; He is exalted in power! In His justice and great righteousness He does not oppress.
24 ULT Therefore, fear him, men. He does not regard any of the wise of heart.” BSB BSB: Therefore, men fear Him, for He is not partial to the wise in heart.”
