In My Father’s House Are Many Rooms 2 ULT In the house of my Father are many dwelling places. But if not, I would have told you, for I am going to prepare a place for you. BSB BSB: In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
3 ULT And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. BSB BSB: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.
4 ULT And you know the way where I am going.” BSB BSB: You know the way to the place where I am going.”
The Way, the Truth, and the Life 5 ULT Thomas says to him,“Lord, we do not know where you are going. How are we able to know the way?” BSB BSB: “Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?”
7 ULT If you have known me, you will know my Father also. And from now on you know him and have seen him.” BSB BSB: If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”
8 ULT Philip says to him,“Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” BSB BSB: Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
10 ULT Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak from myself, but the Father remaining in me is doing his work. BSB BSB: Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.
11 ULT Believe me that I{ am} in the Father, and the Father{ is} in me. But if not, believe because of the works themselves. BSB BSB: Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe on account of the works themselves.
12 ULT Truly, truly, I say to you, the one believing in me, the works that I do, he also will do, and he will do greater than these, because I am going to the Father. BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 ULT And whatever you ask in my name, this I will do so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. BSB BSB: And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 ULT If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. BSB BSB: If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit (John 16:5–16)
17 ULT the Spirit of Truth whom the world is not able to receive, because it does not see him nor know him. You know him, for he remains with you and will be in you. BSB BSB: the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.
18 ULT I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you. BSB BSB: I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
19 ULT Yet a short time and the world no longer sees me, but you see me. Because I live, you will also live. BSB BSB: In a little while the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live.
20 ULT In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you{ are} in me, and I{ am} in you. BSB BSB: On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.
21 ULT The one having my commandments and keeping them, this is the one loving me, and the one loving me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and I will show myself to him.” BSB BSB: Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.”
22 ULT Judas(not Iscariot) says to him,“Lord, what has happened that you are about to show yourself to us and not to the world?” BSB BSB: Judas (not Iscariot) asked Him, “Lord, why are You going to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?”
24 ULT The one not loving me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine, but of the Father having sent me. BSB BSB: Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words. The word that you hear is not My own, but it is from the Father who sent Me.
25 ULT I have said these things to you, remaining with you. BSB BSB: All this I have spoken to you while I am still with you.
Peace I Leave with You 29 ULT And now I have told you before it happens so that, when it may happen, you will believe. BSB BSB: And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe.
30 ULT I will no longer speak many things with you, for the ruler of the world is coming. And he has nothing in me, BSB BSB: I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming, and he has no claim on Me.
31 ULT but so that the world might know that I love the Father, and just as the Father commanded me, thus I do. Get up. Let us go from here.” BSB BSB: But I do exactly what the Father has commanded Me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Get up! Let us go on from here.
