Jerusalem’s New Settlers 1 ULT And the leaders of the people dwelt in Jerusalem. And the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine hands were in the cities. 2 ULT And the people blessed all the men, the ones who freely offered to dwell in Jerusalem. BSB BSB: And the people blessed all the men who volunteered to live in Jerusalem.
3 ULT And these are the heads of the province who dwelt in Jerusalem. And in the cities of Judah they dwelt, a man on his property, in their cities: Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the sons of the servants of Solomon. BSB BSB: These are the heads of the provinces who settled in Jerusalem. (In the villages of Judah, however, each lived on his own property in their towns—the Israelites, priests, Levites, temple servants, and descendants of Solomon’s servants—
4 ULT And some from the sons of Judah and from the sons of Benjamin dwelt in Jerusalem. Those from the sons of Judah were: Athaiah, the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, from the sons of Perez; BSB BSB: while some of the descendants of Judah and Benjamin settled in Jerusalem.) From the descendants of Judah: Athaiah son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, a descendant of Perez;
5 ULT and Maaseiah, the son of Baruch, the son of Kol- Hozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, a son of the Shilonite. BSB BSB: and Maaseiah son of Baruch, the son of Col-hozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, a descendant of Shelah.
6 ULT All the sons of Perez, the ones dwelling in Jerusalem, were 468 men of strength. BSB BSB: The descendants of Perez who settled in Jerusalem totaled 468 men of valor.
7 ULT And these are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu, the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jeshaiah; BSB BSB: From the descendants of Benjamin: Sallu son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jeshaiah;

13 ULT and his brothers, the heads of fathers, were 242; and Amashsai, the son of Azarel, the son of Ahzai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer; BSB BSB: and his associates, the leaders of families—242 men; Amashai son of Azarel, the son of Ahzai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer;
14 ULT and their brothers, mighty men of strength, were 128. And Zabdiel the son of Haggedolim was overseer for them. BSB BSB: and his associates—128 mighty men of valor. Zabdiel son of Haggedolim was their overseer.
15 ULT And from the Levites: Shemaiah, the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni; BSB BSB: From the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;
16 ULT and Shabbethai and Jozabad, from the heads of the Levites, were over the work outside of the house of God; BSB BSB: Shabbethai and Jozabad, two leaders of the Levites, who supervised the work outside the house of God;
17 ULT and Mattaniah, the son of Mika, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, the head of the beginning who offered the thanksgiving prayer; and Bakbukiah, second from his brothers; and Abda, the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun. 18 ULT All the Levites in the holy city were 284. BSB BSB: The Levites in the holy city totaled 284.

Residents Outside Jerusalem 20 ULT And the rest of Israel, the priests, the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, a man in his inheritance. BSB BSB: The rest of the Israelites, with the priests and Levites, were in all the villages of Judah, each on his own inheritance.
21 ULT And the Nethinim were dwelling in the Ophel, and Ziha and Gishpa were over the Nethinim. BSB BSB: The temple servants lived on the hill of Ophel, with Ziha and Gishpa over them.
22 ULT And the overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi, the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mika, from the sons of Asaph, the ones who sang, who were over the work of the house of God. BSB BSB: Now the overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica. He was one of Asaph’s descendants, who were the singers in charge of the service of the house of God.
23 ULT For the commandment of the king was upon them, that support for the ones who sang was a daily matter in its day. BSB BSB: For there was a command from the king concerning the singers, an ordinance regulating their daily activities.
24 ULT And Pethahiah, the son of Meshezabel, from the sons of Zerah, the son of Judah, was at the hand of the king for every matter of the people. BSB BSB: Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, a descendant of Zerah son of Judah, was the king’s agent in every matter concerning the people.
25 ULT And for the villages in their fields, some from the sons of Judah dwelt: in Kiriath Arba and its daughters; and in Dibon and its daughters; and in Jekabzeel and its villages; BSB BSB: As for the villages with their fields, some of the people of Judah lived in Kiriath-arba, Dibon, Jekabzeel, and their villages;

27 ULT and in Hazar- Shual; and in Beersheba and its daughters; BSB BSB: in Hazar-shual; in Beersheba and its villages;

29 ULT and in En- Rimmon; and in Zorah; and in Jarmuth; BSB BSB: in En-rimmon, Zorah, Jarmuth,
30 ULT Zanoah, Adullam, and their villages; Lachish and its fields; Azekah and its daughters. And they encamped from Beersheba as far as the valley of Hinnom: BSB BSB: Zanoah, Adullam, and their villages; in Lachish and its fields; and in Azekah and its villages. So they settled from Beersheba all the way to the Valley of Hinnom.
31 ULT and the sons of Benjamin from Geba, at Mikmash, and Aija, and Bethel and its daughters, BSB BSB: The descendants of Benjamin from Geba lived in Michmash, Aija, and Bethel with its villages;
32 ULT Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah, BSB BSB: in Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,
33 ULT Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim, BSB BSB: Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim,
34 ULT Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat, BSB BSB: Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat,
35 ULT Lod, and Ono, the valley of the craftsmen; BSB BSB: Lod, and Ono; and in the Valley of the Craftsmen.
36 ULT and some from the Levites, who were divisions of Judah, in Benjamin. BSB BSB: And some divisions of the Levites of Judah settled in Benjamin.
