The Benefits of Wisdom 1 ULT My son, if you receive my sayings, and my commandments you store up with you, BSB BSB: My son, if you accept my words and hide my commandments within you,
2 ULT to cause your ear to be attentive to wisdom, you incline your heart to understanding— BSB BSB: if you incline your ear to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding,
3 ULT indeed, if for insight you call out, for understanding you lift up your voice, BSB BSB: if you truly call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding,
4 ULT if you seek it as silver, and as hidden treasures you search for it, BSB BSB: if you seek it like silver and search it out like hidden treasure,
5 ULT then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and the knowledge of God you will find. BSB BSB: then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.
6 ULT For Yahweh gives wisdom; from his mouth{ are} knowledge and understanding. BSB BSB: For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 ULT And he stores up for the upright ones sound wisdom; a shield for those walking{ with} integrity, BSB BSB: He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk with integrity,
8 ULT to guard the paths of justice, and the way of his faithful ones he will preserve. BSB BSB: to guard the paths of justice and protect the way of His saints.
9 ULT Then you will understand righteousness and justice and integrity— every good track, BSB BSB: Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity—every good path.
10 ULT for wisdom will enter into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. BSB BSB: For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight your soul.
11 ULT Discretion will watch over you; understanding will guard you, BSB BSB: Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you,
12 ULT to rescue you from the way of evil, from a man speaking perversions, BSB BSB: to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perversity,
13 ULT the ones who forsake the paths of straightness to walk in the ways of darkness, BSB BSB: from those who leave the straight paths to walk in the ways of darkness,
14 ULT the ones who are glad to do evil, they rejoice in perverse things of evil, BSB BSB: from those who enjoy doing evil and rejoice in the twistedness of evil,
15 ULT whose paths{ are} crooked and going astray in their tracks; BSB BSB: whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious.
16 ULT to rescue you from a strange woman, from a foreign woman who makes her sayings smooth, BSB BSB: It will rescue you from the forbidden woman, from the stranger with seductive words
17 ULT the one who forsakes the companion of her youth, and the covenant of her God, she has forgotten. BSB BSB: who abandons the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God.
18 ULT For her house sinks down to death and her tracks, to the spirits of dead ones. BSB BSB: For her house sinks down to death, and her tracks to the departed spirits.
19 ULT All those who enter her will not return, and they will not reach the paths of life. BSB BSB: None who go to her return or negotiate the paths of life.
20 ULT So you shall walk in the way of the good ones and the paths of the righteous ones you shall keep. BSB BSB: So you will follow in the ways of the good, and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 ULT For the upright will dwell{ in} the land, and the blameless will remain in it, BSB BSB: For the upright will inhabit the land, and the blameless will remain in it;
22 ULT but wicked ones will be cut off from the land, and treacherous ones will be torn away from it. BSB BSB: but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be uprooted.
