Victory over Betrayal (John 13:18–30)
1 ULT The happinesses of the one considering the lowly! In the day of evil, Yahweh will rescue him. BSB BSB: For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Blessed is the one who cares for the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of trouble.
2 ULT Yahweh will guard him and will keep him alive, and he will be called happy in the land; so do not give him into the soul of his enemies. BSB BSB: The LORD will protect and preserve him; He will bless him in the land and refuse to give him over to the will of his foes.
3 ULT Yahweh will support him on the bed of suffering; you transformed each bed of his in his sickness. BSB BSB: The LORD will sustain him on his bed of illness and restore him from his bed of sickness.
4 ULT I, I said,“Yahweh, be gracious to me! Heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.” BSB BSB: I said, “O LORD, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against You.”
5 ULT My enemies say evil concerning me,“When will he die and his name perish?” BSB BSB: My enemies say with malice: “When will he die and be forgotten?”
6 ULT And if he comes to see{ me,} he speaks worthlessness; his heart gathers iniquity to itself. He goes out to the outside; he speaks. BSB BSB: My visitor speaks falsehood; he gathers slander in his heart; he goes out and spreads it abroad.
7 ULT Together against me all my haters whisper; against me they plan evil to me. BSB BSB: All who hate me whisper against me; they imagine the worst for me:
8 ULT “A matter of wickedness is poured on him, and he who has lain down will not repeat to rise.” BSB BSB: “A vile disease has been poured into him; he will never get up from where he lies!”
9 ULT Even the man of my peace, whom I trusted in him, the eater of my bread, has made great the heel against me. BSB BSB: Even my close friend whom I trusted, the one who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
10 ULT But you, Yahweh, be gracious to me and raise me up, so that I may repay them. BSB BSB: But You, O LORD, be gracious to me and raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 ULT By this I know that you delight in me, that my enemy does not shout over me. BSB BSB: By this I know that You delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 ULT And I, in my integrity you upheld me, and you set me to your face forever. BSB BSB: In my integrity You uphold me and set me in Your presence forever.
13 ULT Blessed{ be} Yahweh, the God of Israel, from the everlasting and unto the everlasting. Amen and amen. BSB BSB: Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
