The Mighty One Calls 1 ULT A Psalm of Asaph The God of gods, Yahweh, has spoken, and he has summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. BSB BSB: A Psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from where the sun rises to where it sets.
2 ULT From Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shined forth. BSB BSB: From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.
3 ULT Our God comes, and he is not silent. A fire devours to his face, and around him it is stormed greatly. BSB BSB: Our God approaches and will not be silent! Consuming fire precedes Him, and a tempest rages around Him.
4 ULT He calls to the heavens above and to the earth so that he may judge his people. BSB BSB: He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that He may judge His people:
5 ULT “Gather my faithful{ ones} to me, the cutters of my covenant by sacrifice.” BSB BSB: “Gather to Me My saints, who made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”
6 ULT The heavens declare his righteousness, that God, he is judge. Selah BSB BSB: And the heavens proclaim His righteousness, for God Himself is Judge. Selah
7 ULT “Hear, my people, and I will speak; Israel, and I will testify against you. I{ am} God, your God. BSB BSB: “Hear, O My people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God.
8 ULT I do not accuse you regarding your sacrifices, for your burnt offerings are always before me. BSB BSB: I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices, and your burnt offerings are ever before Me.
9 ULT I will not take a bull from your house, goats from your folds. BSB BSB: I have no need for a bull from your stall or goats from your pens,
10 ULT For every beast of the forest{ is} to me, the cattle on a thousand hills. BSB BSB: for every beast of the forest is Mine—the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 ULT I know all the birds of the mountains, and the creature of the field{ is} with me. BSB BSB: I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are Mine.
12 ULT If I were hungry, I would not say{ that} to you, for the world and its fulness{ are} to me. BSB BSB: If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, and the fullness thereof.
13 ULT Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or do I drink the blood of goats? BSB BSB: Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
14 ULT Sacrifice a thank offering to God, and pay your vows to the Most High. BSB BSB: Sacrifice a thank offering to God, and fulfill your vows to the Most High.
15 ULT Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will glorify me.” BSB BSB: Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me.”
16 ULT But to the wicked{ one} God says,“What to you to recount my statutes, or that you should lift up my covenant onto your mouth? BSB BSB: To the wicked, however, God says, “What right have you to recite My statutes and to bear My covenant on your lips?
17 ULT For you, you hate instruction, and you cast my words behind you. BSB BSB: For you hate My instruction and cast My words behind you.
18 ULT When you see a thief, you approve of him, and you partake with adulterers. BSB BSB: When you see a thief, you befriend him, and throw in your lot with adulterers.
19 ULT You send your mouth in evil, and your tongue frames deceit. BSB BSB: You unleash your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.
20 ULT You sit, you speak against your brother; you impute slander against the son of your mother. BSB BSB: You sit and malign your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.
21 ULT You have done these{ things}, but I have been silent. You thought the being of I AM{ was} like you. I will accuse you, and let me array to your eyes. BSB BSB: You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But now I rebuke you and accuse you to your face.
22 ULT Consider this now, forgetters of God, lest I tear and none be delivering! BSB BSB: Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:
23 ULT The one sacrificing a thank offering glorifies me, and the one placing a way, I will make him look upon the salvation of God.” BSB BSB: He who sacrifices a thank offering honors Me, and to him who rightly orders his way, I will show the salvation of God.”
