Psalm 52 52 Psalms Book 2 unfoldingWord® Literal Text Why Do You Boast of Evil? (1 Samuel 22:6–23)

After Doeg the Edomite went to Saul and told him, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The loving devotion of God endures all day long.
2 ULT Like a sharpened razor, your tongue devises calamities, worker of betrayal! BSB BSB: Your tongue devises destruction like a sharpened razor, O worker of deceit.
3 ULT You love evil more than good, lying more than speaking righteousness. Selah BSB BSB: You love evil more than good, falsehood more than speaking truth. Selah
4 ULT You love all words of destruction, tongue of betrayal! BSB BSB: You love every word that devours, O deceitful tongue.
5 ULT God will also tear you down forever. He will take you away and tear you from the tent and uproot you from the land of the living. Selah BSB BSB: Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent; He will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

7 ULT “Behold, the man did not make God his refuge, but he trusted in the abundance of his wealth; he was strong in his calamity.” BSB BSB: “Look at the man who did not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his wealth and strengthened himself by destruction.”
8 ULT But I{ am} like a green olive tree in the house of God. I will trust in the covenant faithfulness of God forever and ever. BSB BSB: But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in the loving devotion of God forever and ever.
9 ULT I will thank you forever, for you have done{ this}. I will await your name, for{ it is} good before your faithful{ ones}. BSB BSB: I will praise You forever, because You have done it. I will wait on Your name—for it is good—in the presence of Your saints.
