In You My Soul Takes Refuge (1 Samuel 22:1–5; Psalm 108:1–13; Psalm 142:1–7)
1 ULT Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me, for in you my soul takes refuge, and in the shadow of your wings I take refuge until the calamities have passed by. BSB BSB: For the choirmaster. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A Miktam of David, when he fled from Saul into the cave. Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy, for in You my soul takes refuge. In the shadow of Your wings I will take shelter until the danger has passed.
2 ULT I call to God Most High, to God, the one accomplishing for me. BSB BSB: I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me.
3 ULT May he send from the heavens and save me. May he reproach the one trampling me. Selah May God send his covenant faithfulness and his truth. BSB BSB: He reaches down from heaven and saves me; He rebukes those who trample me. Selah God sends forth His loving devotion and His truth.
4 ULT My soul{ is} in the midst of lions; I must lie down{ among} blazing ones, sons of man. Their teeth{ are} a spear and arrows, and their tongue{ is} a sharp sword. BSB BSB: My soul is among the lions; I lie down with ravenous beasts—with men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.
5 ULT Be high above the heavens, God,{ may} your glory{ be} above all of the earth. BSB BSB: Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; may Your glory cover all the earth.
6 ULT They prepare a net for my steps; my soul bows down. They dig a pit to my face; they fall into the midst of it. Selah BSB BSB: They spread a net for my feet; my soul was despondent. They dug a pit before me, but they themselves have fallen into it! Selah
7 ULT My heart is established, God, my heart is established. Let me sing and make music. BSB BSB: My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast. I will sing and make music.
8 ULT Awake, my glory! Awake, lyre and harp! Let me awaken the dawn. BSB BSB: Awake, my glory! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
9 ULT I will thank you, Lord, among the peoples; I will make music to you among the nations. BSB BSB: I will praise You, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing Your praises among the peoples.
10 ULT For your covenant faithfulness{ is} great to the heavens, and your truth to the clouds. BSB BSB: For Your loving devotion reaches to the heavens, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.
11 ULT Be high above the heavens, God,{ may} your glory{ be} above all of the earth. BSB BSB: Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; may Your glory cover all the earth.
