Walking by the Spirit (Ezekiel 36:16–38; Galatians 5:16–26)
ULT { There is} therefore now no condemnation at all for the ones in Christ Jesus. BSB BSB: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
ULT For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus set you free from the law of sin and death. BSB BSB: For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.
ULT For what the law{ was} unable{ to do}, in that it was weak through the flesh, God{ did}, having sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for the sake of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, BSB BSB: For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh,
ULT so that the righteous deeds of the law might be fulfilled in us, those walking not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. BSB BSB: so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
ULT For those existing according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those according to the Spirit,{ on} the things of the Spirit. BSB BSB: Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
ULT For the mindset of the flesh{ is} death, but the mindset of the Spirit{ is} life and peace; BSB BSB: The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace,
ULT because the mindset of the flesh{ is} hostility toward God, for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not able{ to do so}. BSB BSB: because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
ULT But those existing in the flesh are not able to be pleasing to God. BSB BSB: Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.
ULT But if Christ{ is} in you, the body{ is} dead because of sin, but the Spirit{ is} life because of righteousness. BSB BSB: But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.
ULT If indeed the Spirit of the one having raised Jesus from dead ones lives in you, the one having raised Christ Jesus from dead ones will also make alive your mortal bodies through his Spirit living in you. BSB BSB: And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.
Heirs with Christ 12 ULT So then, brothers, we are debtors— not to the flesh to live according to the flesh. BSB BSB: Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.
ULT For if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the practices of the body, you will live. BSB BSB: For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
ULT For as many as are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. BSB BSB: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
ULT Now if children,{ then} also heirs: both heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ— if indeed we suffer together with{ him} so that we may also be glorified together with{ him}. BSB BSB: And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.
Future Glory (2 Corinthians 5:1–10)
ULT that also the creation itself will be freed from the slavery of the decay into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. BSB BSB: that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
ULT For we know that all the creation groans and labors in pain together until now. BSB BSB: We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time.
ULT Not only that, but also we, having the firstfruits of the Spirit— even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly expecting our adoption, the redemption of our body. BSB BSB: Not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
ULT For in this hope we were saved. Now hope being seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? BSB BSB: For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see?
ULT But if we hope for what we do not see, with endurance we are eagerly expecting{ it}. BSB BSB: But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.
ULT Now in the same way, the Spirit also helps in our weakness. For the thing for which we should pray as we ought, we do not know, but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groans. BSB BSB: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.
ULT But the one searching the hearts knows what{ is} the mindset of the Spirit, because he intercedes on behalf of the saints in accordance with God. BSB BSB: And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
God Works in All Things (Ephesians 1:3–14)
ULT And we know that for the ones loving God, God works all things together for good, for the ones being called according to his purpose. BSB BSB: And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
ULT Because those whom he foreknew, he also predestined{ to be} a similar form to the image of his Son so that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. BSB BSB: For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.
ULT Now those whom he predestined, these he also called. And those whom he called, these he also justified. And those whom he justified, these he also glorified. BSB BSB: And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.
ULT Who will bring an accusation against God’ s elect? God{ is} the one justifying. BSB BSB: Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
ULT Who{ is} the one condemning? Christ Jesus{ is} the one having died— but more{ than that}, having been raised, who also is at the right hand of God— the one also interceding on our behalf. BSB BSB: Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us.
More than Conquerors (Psalm 44:1–26)
ULT Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or hunger, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? BSB BSB: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
ULT Just as it is written,“For your sake we are being put to death the whole day{ long}. We were considered as sheep for slaughter.” BSB BSB: As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
ULT But in all these things we are more than conquerors through the one having loved us. BSB BSB: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
ULT For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor governments, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, BSB BSB: For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 ULT nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which{ is} in Christ Jesus our Lord. BSB BSB: neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
