The End Times (Revelation 1:1–3)
UST When those things happen, the great angel Michael, who protects the Israelites, will help them. The Israelites will have more trouble than they have had since they became a nation until now. But at that time, God will rescue every one of his people whose name he has written in his book. BSB BSB: “At that time Michael, the great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress, the likes of which will not have occurred from the beginning of nations until that time. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.
UST Those who have done what is wise will shine as brightly as the sky. And those who have helped others to live right will shine like stars forever. BSB BSB: Then the wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever.
UST But as for you, Daniel, do not tell anyone what I have told you. You may write this down, but seal the scroll so that no one opens it and reads it until it is time for these things to start happening. People will go to different places trying to find out what is going to happen.” BSB BSB: But you, Daniel, shut up these words and seal the book until the time of the end. Many will roam to and fro, and knowledge will increase.”
UST { When that angel finished speaking,} I, Daniel, looked up, and I saw two other angels. One angel was standing on my side of the river, and the other angel was standing on the opposite side. BSB BSB: Then I, Daniel, looked and saw two others standing there, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.
UST One of them called to the angel who had been speaking to me, who was wearing linen clothes. He was above the river. That other angel asked him,“How long will it be until these amazing events end?” BSB BSB: One of them said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long until the fulfillment of these wonders?”
UST The angel wearing linen clothes who was above the river raised both of his hands toward the sky. I heard him solemnly swear by God, who lives forever, that it would be for a time, times, and half a time. For a while, God’ s holy people will lose their power. But when that time is over, these other events will also end. BSB BSB: And the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by Him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, and times, and half a time. When the power of the holy people has finally been shattered, all these things will be completed.”
UST I heard what he said, but I did not understand it. So I asked,“Sir, what will be the result of all these events?” BSB BSB: I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these things?”
UST He replied,“Daniel, no one will be able to understand what this message means until the time of these events. So just continue to live your life now. BSB BSB: “Go on your way, Daniel,” he replied, “for the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.
UST Many people will make sure that they live in a way that honors Yahweh greatly. But wicked people will continue to do wicked things. None of them will understand what is happening, but wise people will understand. BSB BSB: Many will be purified, made spotless, and refined, but the wicked will continue to act wickedly. None of the wicked will understand, but the wise will understand.
UST There will be 1, 290 days after the northern king prevents the priests from offering the regular sacrifices to Yahweh each morning and evening and puts something disgusting in the temple that makes it unclean. BSB BSB: And from the time the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation set up, there will be 1,290 days.
UST God will greatly bless those who remain loyal to him until 1, 335 days are over. BSB BSB: Blessed is he who waits and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
UST But as for you, Daniel, you will die before these things happen. But when the world ends, you will live again, and God will reward you. So for now, just continue to live the rest of your life.” BSB BSB: But as for you, go on your way until the end. You will rest, and then you will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.”
