Bless the LORD, O My Soul 1 UST A psalm of David I tell myself,“Praise Yahweh!” To everything that is within me, I say,“Praise him because he is holy!” BSB BSB: Of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name.
2 UST I tell myself,“Praise Yahweh, and think about all of the kind things that he has done for me.” BSB BSB: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds—
3 UST He forgives all of my sins, and he heals me from all of my sicknesses. BSB BSB: He who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases,
4 UST He rescues me from things that would kill me; he blesses me by faithfully loving me and acting mercifully to me. BSB BSB: who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion,
5 UST He gives me plenty of good things{ during my entire life}. He makes me feel young{ and strong}{ as though I could fly high} like an eagle. BSB BSB: who satisfies you with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 UST It is Yahweh who does all this! He does what is right and judges justly for all those whom people have been treating unfairly. BSB BSB: The LORD executes righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
7 UST { Long ago} he revealed to Moses the way that he works; he showed to{ our ancestors,} the people of Israel, the{ mighty} things that he can do. BSB BSB: He made known His ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of Israel.
8 UST Yahweh acts mercifully and kindly; he does not quickly get angry{ when we sin}; he always faithfully loves us. BSB BSB: The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion.
9 UST He will not always rebuke us, and he will not remain angry forever. BSB BSB: He will not always accuse us, nor harbor His anger forever.
10 UST He does not punish us for our sins nearly as much as we deserve. BSB BSB: He has not dealt with us according to our sins or repaid us according to our iniquities.
11 UST Indeed, as high as the sky is above the earth, that is how much Yahweh faithfully loves everyone who reveres him. BSB BSB: For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His loving devotion for those who fear Him.
12 UST He has taken away the guilt for our sins and put it as far from us as the east is from the west. BSB BSB: As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13 UST Just as parents always love their children, Yahweh always loves those who revere him. BSB BSB: As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
14 UST Indeed, he certainly knows how weak we are; he remembers that he created us from dust. BSB BSB: For He knows our frame; He is mindful that we are dust.
15 UST The lifetime of humans passes quickly, like that of grass. We are like wild flowers that bloom for a short while, BSB BSB: As for man, his days are like grass—he blooms like a flower of the field;
16 UST but then the wind blows over them and they disappear, and no one knows they were ever there. BSB BSB: when the wind passes over, it vanishes, and its place remembers it no more.
17 UST But Yahweh will continue to faithfully love all those who revere him, forever. He will do what is right for generations of their children, BSB BSB: But from everlasting to everlasting the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him, and His righteousness to their children’s children—
18 UST that is, he will act that way to all those who obey the covenant that he made with them. Yes, he will act that way to all those who obey what he has commanded us to do. BSB BSB: to those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts.
19 UST Yahweh rules as king in heaven. From there, he rules over everything. BSB BSB: The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.
20 UST Praise Yahweh, you angels who belong to Yahweh, You powerful warriors who do what he tells you to do, you who obey what he commands! BSB BSB: Bless the LORD, all His angels mighty in strength who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command.
21 UST Praise Yahweh, all you armies of his angels, you who serve him and do what he desires! BSB BSB: Bless the LORD, all His hosts, you servants who do His will.
22 UST All of the creatures that Yahweh has created should praise him! They should praise him in every place where he rules,{ which is everywhere}! I say to myself,“Praise Yahweh!” BSB BSB: Bless the LORD, all His works in all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!
