UST Ask Yahweh to help you and to make you strong; always try to be with him! BSB BSB: Seek out the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.
UST You people who are descendants of Yahweh’ s servant Abraham, you descendants of Jacob, the people whom Yahweh has chosen, think about all of the wonderful things that he has done; he performed miracles, and he proclaimed{ righteous} judgments. BSB BSB: Remember the wonders He has done, His marvels, and the judgments He has pronounced,
UST He is Yahweh, the God whom we worship. He rules over people throughout the earth. BSB BSB: He is the LORD our God; His judgments carry throughout the earth.
UST He never forgets the covenant that he made; that is, he will maintain what he promised for countless generations. BSB BSB: He remembers His covenant forever, the word He ordained for a thousand generations—
UST That is the covenant that he made with Abraham, and that he repeated with an oath to Isaac. BSB BSB: the covenant He made with Abraham, and the oath He swore to Isaac.
UST Then he repeated it as a reliable covenant with Jacob, that is, with Israel, and it was a covenant that would last forever. BSB BSB: He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
UST What Yahweh said to them was,“I will give to you the region of Canaan; that will be what you{ and your descendants} inherit from me.” BSB BSB: “I will give you the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.”
UST Yahweh said that to the people of Israel when there were only a few of them. They were just a tiny group of people who were living in that land like strangers. BSB BSB: When they were few in number, few indeed, and strangers in the land,
UST They continually wandered from one place to another, living in various kingdoms and people groups. BSB BSB: they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.

UST “Do not harm the people whom I have chosen! Do nothing bad to my prophets!” BSB BSB: “Do not touch My anointed ones! Do no harm to My prophets!”

UST { So the people of Israel went to Egypt, but} before they went, Yahweh had already sent someone{ there}.{ He sent} Joseph, whom his brothers had sold to be a slave. BSB BSB: He sent a man before them—Joseph, sold as a slave.
UST { Later, while Joseph was in prison in Egypt,} the guards trapped his feet in shackles, and they put an iron collar around his neck. BSB BSB: They bruised his feet with shackles and placed his neck in irons,
UST { Joseph was in prison} until the time when the events that he had predicted happened. Yahweh spoke to him{ during this time} and taught Joseph to trust him more. BSB BSB: until his prediction came true and the word of the LORD proved him right.
UST The king of Egypt, the ruler of the people, commanded his servants who went to the prison and set Joseph free. BSB BSB: The king sent and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.
UST Then the king chose Joseph as the one to decide about everything in the king’ s household, that is, to be in charge of everything that the king possessed. BSB BSB: He made him master of his household, ruler over all his substance,
UST The king permitted Joseph to command the king’ s officials to do anything that Joseph wanted them to do, and Joseph taught the king’ s advisors how to be wise. BSB BSB: to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom.
UST { Later, Joseph’ s father} Jacob, also called Israel, arrived in Egypt. He lived like a foreigner in that land that belonged to the descendants of Ham. BSB BSB: Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham.
UST Over the years, Yahweh caused the descendants of Jacob to become very numerous. As a result, the enemies of the people of Israel considered that the people of Israel were becoming too strong. BSB BSB: And the LORD made His people very fruitful, more numerous than their foes,
UST So Yahweh caused the rulers of Egypt to hate Yahweh’ s people, and they devised ways to oppress his people. BSB BSB: whose hearts He turned to hate His people, to conspire against His servants.
UST But then Yahweh sent his servant Moses along with{ Moses’ older brother} Aaron, whom Yahweh had also chosen{ to serve him}. BSB BSB: He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron, whom He had chosen.
UST Those two performed Yahweh’ s amazing miracles among the people of Egypt in that land where the descendants of Ham lived. BSB BSB: They performed His miraculous signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
UST Yahweh sent darkness so that the land of Egypt was dark, and Moses and Aaron obeyed what Yahweh told them to do. BSB BSB: He sent darkness, and it became dark—yet they defied His words.
UST Yahweh caused all of the water in Egypt to become blood, which caused all of their fish to die. BSB BSB: He turned their waters to blood and caused their fish to die.

UST The hail ruined their grapevines, fig trees, and destroyed all the other trees in their country. BSB BSB: He struck their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their country.
UST Yahweh commanded locusts to come, and hordes of them came of different kinds; so many came that no one could count them. BSB BSB: He spoke, and the locusts came—young locusts without number.
UST The locusts ate every green plant in their land, including all of the crops. BSB BSB: They devoured every plant in their land and consumed the produce of their soil.
UST Then Yahweh killed every firstborn son, the one who first demonstrated that the man was virile,{ in every house} of the people of Egypt. BSB BSB: Then He struck all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their vigor.
UST Then Yahweh brought the Israelite people out{ from Egypt}. They were carrying{ many heavy things made of} silver and gold{ that the people of Egypt had given to them}, and yet none of his people stumbled as they went. BSB BSB: He brought Israel out with silver and gold, and none among His tribes stumbled.
UST The people of Egypt were glad when the Israelite people left because the people of Egypt had become very afraid of the Israelites. BSB BSB: Egypt was glad when they departed, for the dread of Israel had fallen on them.
UST { Then} Yahweh spread a cloud to cover the Israelites; and at night{ it became} a{ big} fire{ in the sky} to give them light. BSB BSB: He spread a cloud as a covering and a fire to light up the night.
UST { Then} the Israelites asked{ for meat to eat}, and Yahweh sent{ flocks of} quail to them, and he gave them plenty of{ manna} bread from the sky{ each morning}. BSB BSB: They asked, and He brought quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
UST { One day} Yahweh split open a rock, and water poured out{ from the opening for the people to drink}. The water became a river flowing in the desert. BSB BSB: He opened a rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a river in the desert.
UST Yahweh did those things because he continually thought about the sacred promise that he had given to his servant, Abraham. BSB BSB: For He remembered His holy promise to Abraham His servant.
UST So his people were joyful as Yahweh brought them out{ from Egypt}. These people whom he had chosen were shouting joyfully as they went. BSB BSB: He brought forth His people with rejoicing, His chosen with shouts of joy.
UST Then Yahweh gave to the people of Israel the land that had belonged to the people groups{ that lived there in Canaan}. So the Israelites took over the fields that those peoples had planted. BSB BSB: He gave them the lands of the nations, that they might inherit the fruit of others’ labor,
