Psalm 12 12 Psalms Book 1 unfoldingWord® Simplified Text The Godly Are No More 1 UST Yahweh, help us!{ It seems like} people who honor you are no more. BSB BSB: For the choirmaster. According to Sheminith. A Psalm of David. Help, O LORD, for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men.
UST Everyone tells lies to other people; they deceive others by saying good things about them that they know are not true and by speaking insincerely. BSB BSB: They lie to one another; they speak with flattering lips and a double heart.
UST Yahweh, we wish that you would cut off their tongues{ so that} they cannot continue to boast. BSB BSB: May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue.
UST They say,“By speaking untruthfully we will get what we want; we control what we say, no one can tell us what we should do!” BSB BSB: They say, “With our tongues we will prevail. We own our lips—who can be our master?”
UST { But} Yahweh replies,“I have seen the oppressive things that they have done to helpless people; I have heard those people groaning, so I will take action and rescue the people who are wanting someone to help them.” BSB BSB: “For the cause of the oppressed and for the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says the LORD. “I will bring safety to him who yearns.”
UST Yahweh, what you say is morally pure and you always do what you have said you will do. Your words are{ as precious and pure as} silver that has been heated seven times in a furnace{ to get rid of all the impure material}. BSB BSB: The words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace, like gold purified sevenfold.
UST Yahweh, we know that you will continually protect us who honor you from those wicked people. BSB BSB: You, O LORD, will keep us; You will forever guard us from this generation.
UST When people praise wicked actions, wicked people strut around{ proudly}. BSB BSB: The wicked wander freely, and vileness is exalted among men.
