To You I Lift Up My Soul 1 UST A psalm of David Yahweh, I come to you in prayer and tell you all that I need. BSB BSB: Of David. To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
2 UST I trust in you, my God. Do not allow my enemies{ to defeat me}, with the result that they would rejoice and I would be ashamed. BSB BSB: in You, my God, I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me.
3 UST Truly, you will not allow any of those who trust in you to be ashamed. You will cause those who act treacherously toward others to be ashamed. BSB BSB: Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame; but those who engage in treachery without cause will be disgraced.
4 UST Yahweh, show me how I should conduct my life as you want me to. Teach me how to act in the manner that is pleasing to you. BSB BSB: Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths.
5 UST Teach me to conduct my life by obeying your truth, because you are my God, the one who saves me. I trust in you at all times. BSB BSB: Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; all day long I wait for You.
6 UST Yahweh, please act mercifully to me and faithfully love me, because that is the way that you have acted since long ago. BSB BSB: Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and loving devotion, for they are from age to age.
7 UST Forgive me for the sinful things I did when I was young and for my rebellious actions{ as an adult}. I ask that, because you faithfully love your people, you treat me kindly and forgive me. Yahweh, I ask that you do this because you are good! BSB BSB: Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my rebellious acts; remember me according to Your loving devotion, because of Your goodness, O LORD.
8 UST Yahweh is good and acts righteously, so he shows sinful people the right way to conduct their lives. BSB BSB: Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He shows sinners the way.
9 UST He shows humble people what is right for them to do and teaches them what he wants them to do. BSB BSB: He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.
10 UST Yahweh always faithfully loves and does what he has promised to those who obey his covenant and who do what he requires. BSB BSB: All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful to those who keep His covenant and His decrees.
11 UST Yahweh, forgive me for all my sins, which are many, in order that I and others may honor you. BSB BSB: For the sake of Your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, for it is great.
12 UST To all those who revere Yahweh, he shows them the right way to conduct their lives. BSB BSB: Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the path chosen for him.
13 UST They will always be prosperous, and their descendants will continue to live in{ this} land. BSB BSB: His soul will dwell in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.
14 UST Yahweh is a friend of those who revere him, and he teaches them the covenant that he made{ with them}. BSB BSB: The LORD confides in those who fear Him, and reveals His covenant to them.
15 UST I always ask Yahweh to help me, because he will rescue me when my enemies attempt to hurt me. BSB BSB: My eyes are always on the LORD, for He will free my feet from the mesh.
16 UST { Yahweh,} pay attention to me and be merciful to me, because I have no one to help me and I am suffering. BSB BSB: Turn to me and be gracious, for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 UST { Because of my present circumstances} there are many things that cause me to worry. Rescue me from the things that are causing me to be distressed. BSB BSB: The troubles of my heart increase; free me from my distress.
18 UST Take notice that I am in difficult circumstances and troubled, and forgive me for every sinful thing I have done. BSB BSB: Consider my affliction and trouble, and take away all my sins.
19 UST Take notice that I have many enemies, and that they hate me very much. BSB BSB: Consider my enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with vicious hatred.
20 UST Protect me and rescue me{ from them}; do not allow{ them to defeat me with the result that} I would be ashamed, because I go to you to keep me safe. BSB BSB: Guard my soul and deliver me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You.
21 UST Protect me because I do what is good and honest, and because I trust in you. BSB BSB: May integrity and uprightness preserve me, because I wait for You.
22 UST God, rescue{ us} Israelite people from all of our troubles! BSB BSB: Redeem Israel, O God, from all its distress.
