Psalm 29 29 Psalms Book 1 unfoldingWord® Simplified Text Ascribe Glory to the LORD 1 UST A psalm of David You heavenly beings, praise Yahweh! Declare that he is very glorious and powerful. BSB BSB: A Psalm of David. Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
2 UST Proclaim that Yahweh is glorious. Bow down and worship Yahweh in holy attire. BSB BSB: Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.
3 UST { People hear} Yahweh’ s voice above the sea; the glorious God thunders. Yahweh’ s{ voice thunders} over the large sea. BSB BSB: The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the LORD is heard over many waters.
4 UST Yahweh’ s voice is powerful and majestic. BSB BSB: The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.
5 UST The sound of Yahweh’ s voice breaks cedar trees, the cedars that grow in Lebanon. BSB BSB: The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
6 UST He causes{ the mountains in} Lebanon to jump like calves jump, and he causes Mount Hermon to jump as a young wild bull jumps. BSB BSB: He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 UST Yahweh tells the lightning to flash{ upon the mountains} and it hews out rocks. BSB BSB: The voice of the LORD strikes with flames of fire.
8 UST The sound of Yahweh’ s voice causes the wilderness to shake; he shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. BSB BSB: The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh.
9 UST The sound of Yahweh’ s voice makes the deer give birth and strips the leaves from the trees, while the people in Yahweh’ s sacred tent say,“Praise Yahweh!” BSB BSB: The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in His temple all cry, “Glory!”
10 UST Yahweh rules as king over the waters that are above the sky; Yahweh rules as king forever. BSB BSB: The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever.
11 UST Yahweh will strengthen his people, and he will bless them by giving them good things and causing them to be happy and peaceful. BSB BSB: The LORD gives His people strength; the LORD blesses His people with peace.
