Psalm 6 6 Psalms Book 1 unfoldingWord® Simplified Text Do Not Rebuke Me in Your Anger (Psalm 38:1–22)
UST Yahweh, do not correct me angrily, do not punish me wrathfully. BSB BSB: For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments, according to Sheminith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath.
UST Yahweh, act kindly toward me because I have become weak. Yahweh, heal me because my body shakes fearfully. BSB BSB: Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am frail; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are in agony.
UST Yahweh, I am greatly troubled in my inner being. How long must I endure this? BSB BSB: My soul is deeply distressed. How long, O LORD, how long?
UST Yahweh, relent from your anger and deliver me! Help me because you always do what you promise! BSB BSB: Turn, O LORD, and deliver my soul; save me because of Your loving devotion.
UST { Do this} because{ I and} no one{ else} who is dead can honor you.{ I and} no one{ else} can praise you{ if we are} in the place where the dead are. BSB BSB: For there is no mention of You in death; who can praise You from Sheol?
UST I am exhausted because of my pain. I cry all night long, so that my tears soak and seem as if they will wash away my bed and my cushions. BSB BSB: I am weary from groaning; all night I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
UST I am very sad and{ I cry so much that} I cannot see well. My vision has become weak from{ crying because of} all my enemies. BSB BSB: My eyes fail from grief; they grow dim because of all my foes.
UST { I advise} all you people who do evil things to get away from me because Yahweh heard me when I was crying; BSB BSB: Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard my weeping.
UST he heard me when I called out for him to help me, and he will answer my prayer. BSB BSB: The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
UST { When that happens,} all my enemies will be ashamed and very troubled. They will relent{ from attacking me because they will} suddenly{ be} ashamed. BSB BSB: All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace.
