You Are My Refuge and My Fortress 1 UST Those people whom God Most High protects will be able to rest safely because Shaddai cares for them. BSB BSB: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 UST I will declare to Yahweh,“You protect me; you are like a stronghold in which I am safe. You are my God, the one in whom I trust.” BSB BSB: I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
3 UST He will rescue you from all hidden traps and save you from deadly diseases. BSB BSB: Surely He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly plague.
4 UST He will protect you as a bird does who covers her young under her wings. You will be safe in his care. As he faithfully does what he has promised, that is like a shield or strong wall that will protect you. BSB BSB: He will cover you with His feathers; under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and rampart.
5 UST You will not be afraid of things that happen during the night that could terrorize you or of arrows{ that your enemies will shoot at you} during the day. BSB BSB: You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 UST You will not be afraid of plagues that infect people in the night or of other evil forces that kill people in the light of day. BSB BSB: nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the calamity that destroys at noon.
7 UST Even if a thousand people fall dead alongside you, even if ten thousand people are dying around you, the deadly thing will not harm you. BSB BSB: Though a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, no harm will come near you.
8 UST All you need to do is watch and you will see that God is punishing evil people! BSB BSB: You will only see it with your eyes and witness the punishment of the wicked.
9 UST This is because you trust Yahweh, God Most High, who protects me, to also protect you. BSB BSB: Because you have made the LORD your dwelling—my refuge, the Most High—
10 UST Therefore, nothing evil will happen to you; no plague will affect your family BSB BSB: no evil will befall you, no plague will approach your tent.
11 UST because Yahweh will command his angels to protect you in whatever you are doing. BSB BSB: For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
12 UST They will even hold you up with their hands so that you will not hurt your foot on a big stone. BSB BSB: They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 UST Yahweh will not allow your enemies to harm you; even if strong lions and poisonous snakes attack you, you will defeat them! BSB BSB: You will tread on the lion and cobra; you will trample the young lion and serpent.
14 UST Yahweh says,“I will rescue those who love me; I will protect them because they know me. BSB BSB: “Because he loves Me, I will deliver him; because he knows My name, I will protect him.
15 UST When they call out to me, I will answer them. I will help them when they are experiencing trouble; I will rescue them and honor them. BSB BSB: When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.
16 UST I will reward them by enabling them to live a long time, and I will save them.” BSB BSB: With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”
